    Bad luck = poor discipline.

If you don't do the dodge (e.g. Stand in front of the kicker, tackle high, kick the ball out on the kick-off...etc) then they won't penalise you.

Sure they get some wrong but I think the majority are poor discipline. This is why I was VERY happy when Trent mentioned poor discipling (Smith and Braith blaming the refs started sounding like a broken record.)

I am prepared to accept that we give away too many penalties through ill discipline.

I am prepared to accept that this ill-discipline is somehow encoded into the DNA of every Rooster team this century.

But to what do you attribute the fact that equally ill-disciplined teams suddenly stop giving away penalties when they play us?

Surely this statistically improbable result must be attributable to bad luck? Or to something else?

          Really?

Smith and Braith were quite justified in blaming the refs.
          Quite justfied.

You have been making this point for years Spirit.

The only thing even more remarkable than the sudden, dramatic improvement in the number of penalties conceded by almost every single team against whom we play (even the really shitty ones who deserve the crap to be penalised out of them, such as every souffs team over the last decade until their very recent makeover - they were regular wooden spooners for most of the decade and yet their "discipline" was perfect when they played us even during this period), is the cloth eared, thick headed stupidity of most of our own "supporters" on this forum who cannot even fathom the very shallow depths of the obvious point you make.

                  *Stands and applauds*

To you and to Spirit of 66, I am firmly in your camp on this matter.
What amazes me is how so many here seem to get only the ONE SIDE of this matter and ignore the other, less easily explained side.

Was one of the penalties against us last night for throwing someones boot?
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry at that call, and for the record i believe we get the rough end of the pineapple on the pens.

i like the way a scrum feed decision was changed against us of course after much moaning from the warriers! it was the correct decision but if it was the other way no doubt the decision stands? weve come to expect it now? thats sad! acceptance of bias!

Actually, I think we were ok until the Anderson shemozzle.

It would have changed for us too (well, I'm fairly sure anyway). We don't get stiffed on the blatant ones normally.

Its holding down, the 10m & hands on the ball that are the problems.

Things like Mose tackling too hard are unusual. The one last night where SBW was pushed - we didn't see a wide shot and I don't think he was the one penalised. The ref didn't say who it was.

ahh yes the scrum feed reversal another classic call.

Yes. These are the areas where the referees have the most "wriggle room" in influencing the outcome of games. I counted at least 6 incidents last night where the Warriors could have been penalised for this kind of thing, but weren't. The other area are the offside penalties - these are now rare, unless of course the ref is unhappy with a fair strip, in which case he'll randomly find someone to penalise.

Agree (and it was evident last night again even after us winning).

But on the topic itself with us getting hammered by the refs over the years, it makes some supporters feel better to accept it and blame us. Regardless of the overwhelming evidence...
