The way that Mini scored that try highlights the fact that is where he should be....on the wing.
Safe under the high ball but he has to be more than that.

You are missing the point though mate. When someone has a good game I will be the first to say well done. At the end of the day all I want to see is us have the best chance of winning.
Likewise when someone has a bad game be honest and don't trot out the same bullshit every week.
mini had an ok game if you take out the drop balls, and the try he didnt take dead. but watching the replay of the nz last try rts pulled out of the chase instead of helping the ball go dead. by rts backing off he let the kiwi runner in his spot and thats where the try came from. rts needs a bit more experience in commitment

That's fair enough isn't it?
Fitzy I know you are a diehard Roosters supporter and like all of us only want to see us winning and winning well. I've always thought you were a fair poster and you are being absolutely reasonable in your criticism of Mini. This forum is here for us all to do exactly that (Christ I sound like backwards). To be honest you cracked me up by calling everyone who disagreed with you an idiot.
In regards to Mini I really feel bad about the situation. He is our fullback and captain and a club legend. Yes he probably should have retired last year. However, have you ever noticed that our own supporters are his harshest critics. Whenever, I talk to supporters of other teams they all think Mini goes okay. Mini is in the unfortunate position that every time he makes an error or has a bad game people will be calling for him to hang up the boots. Yes he made two very poor errors on Saturday but I thought he went okay otherwise.
Perhaps I am looking at this situation a little too optimistically. However, there is a reason. In a sense we need him to go well for the sake of the club. We can't sack our captain and most experienced player. If he were to retire mid-season it would also be a major disruption. The other choice is for him to move to the wing which may be the best option. Although we are not sure if RTS is ready and able and it is also very unusual to have a winger as captain.
Uncle Nick has assembled a gun squad. I'm talking about about not only the first grade team but the coaching and support staff and the likes of POS. I think we are primed for a serious crack at the title, perhaps this year but certainly next year. Having a lack of stability in the captain/fullback role could well derail those ambitions.
Are we flogging a dead horse with Mini? Maybe, but I think we can still squeeze a bit of life out of him yet. I honestly believe he will still be here in 2014.
p.s. I'm actually more concerned about Jake Friend than Mini.

I'm not sure if I'm happy or offended by those two names being mentioned together maaaaaaaaaaaaaate.
Mate i usually respect your opinion as unlike many you dont get personal & can you always justify your opinion, even if i dont agree with it, as you said you just call it as YOU see it. I also never said you hated Mini.
I suppose the thing that pisses me off, & i'm not suggesting that you do this, is when peoples views get belittled & are subject to petty name calling just because they dare to have a difference of opinion.
Anyway, as i'm sure has been said many times before it would be pretty dull on here if everyone agreed on everything on here.
You couldn't possibly slot Mini in any higher than Tier 5 in that lot.
If you are being honest, what would his list of pro's and con's look like? To me it is:
PRO'S:
* Rarely if ever drops a mid-field bomb
* Takes the right option when defending line breaks every time (always goes the ball carrier and forces them to pass if they want to score)
CON'S:
* Way too slow these days
* No ball playing ability whatsoever
* Despite the above, attempts to chime into the backline every set
* Hands like feet when it comes to catching offloads or short balls
* Pretty much never available in support after a linebreaks up the middle
* Incapable of defending any type of kick that isn't a midfield bomb (grubbers, cross field kicks, chips back towards the goal posts etc), largely due to lack of pace
* terrible kick returns. no longer able to break tackles like he used to
Personally I think Mini needs to be shifted to the wing and RTS given a solid go at fullback. All of minis remaining qualities are just as useful on the wing, and most of his deficiencies would be able to be hidden out wide as well. Whats more we'd have a fullback in RTS who would have defenders in 2 minds when returning the ball, while also taking him off the wing where he is clearly uncomfortable defending.
