I think it can come accross as half hearted because the team is going poorly.
In the end, if the team is playing well, it is always makes a marketeers job easier, people want to see winners.
unfortunatly our lot are not making their job harder, on top of that, some people are talking Mass emails they receive personally as well.

Muzz IMO the club couldve taken a hit $$$$ wise and announced 1/2 priced tickets for fans to attend for Fitzys last game.
By putting the onus back on the fans, the ones whove already put their hard earned $$$ into this shit season, theyve alienated many people.
I believe a gesture of goodwill would earn the club respect and attract members for next season from that.
FFS they could easily make up Fitzy masks or Bald head covers and place them on seats, especially of The Paid up Members, it wouldnt cost much and would again be a fitting goodwill gesture. Or at least put a final training session/BBQ, on Sat for example, for members.
I bet other clubs, The Poocastles or Penwiffs or Watsamattas or Cowgirls, wouldve done such gestures in the past, on the end of a shit season with a legend leaving.
IMO the clubs dropped the pill on this issue.

stsae, discounted family tickets, Kids under 16yrs enter for free, apart from Opening the gates to all and sundry there is not much else then can do.
I am not saying the marketing team are infalable, i know the problems you have previously had with them.
What i am questioning about this thread is why the article emailed to people is considered a joke? Basically what they are trying to do is drum up support for the game, it is a mass email that was sent out, it is not directed at and personalised for each induvidual.
if you are going and can get to the game great good on you, but you have to remember there are also people on the mass emailing list that may need an email like that to go to the game.
Not every one needs prompting by an email/article, but some do and this is the clubs way of getting the game information out the.
like i said, marketing is not infalable or perfect, but as i said before, they are damned if the do and damned if the don't.

Fair enough Muzz, I didnt really consider marketing in my post, but I guess thats their dept. Sure ive had my problems there but IMO this is about Easts as a whole. I didnt recieve an email.
I reckon this weekends game shouldnt be about $$$$. The season hasnt been. We will make good $$$ from gate takings IF we win games. Thats been the way since day dot in ALL sports.
This weekend should be about Easts giving something back to the fans, the members specifically, those who have already spent their $$$ on the club. It should be a celebration of Fitzy. IMO theyve made out its the Fans responsibility to support the day. I believe it wouldve been better if they tried to show the fans they are willing to lose some $$$ to encourage the fans to turn up.
I guess its the way theyve worded the email, it comes across as being Insulting and Condesending.
Its good theyre doing stuff for the kids, credit there. It would be even better IMO if they gave something back to the members, the hardcore fans whove had to sit thru this shit week after week. People like you my good man.
I hope you all enjoy the day. I will be shaved and dangerous, pissed and full of prawns. Its fathers day Im gonna fart and watch Easts. Cock-a-doodle-doo.

It's poorly thought out and badly written.
The ONLY way to market this game is to focus on the magnificent career of Craig Fitzgibbon and leverage the respect the man has amongst fans.
It's not rocket science.

I didn't go to games that I would have gone to for sure if we were at the top of the table.
I would expect that everyone here has lost at least a little enthusiasm for the club and the team.
If they haven't then they are very loyal - and moronic.
