I would say one of the most important things about tonight is we had a grinding game in which we won. All the top sides can do this, and all the sides that go on and win grand finals can do this. Tonight's game will be vital if we challenge.

Never said that, I said "SHORT KICKING'. Pearce has good long range kicks. I am talking about short tactical kicking. I dont know why so many people turn suicidal, it is obvious even to a nomad arab from the sahara that Pearce has lost his ability to be accurate in short range kicking

We conceded 28 points in round 1.

We conceded 14 points in round 2.

We conceded 0 points in round 3.

The pattern is the defence is improving out of sight since the "deer in the headlights" performance in round 1 and that can only lead to positive outcomes. I have been waiting for this kind of team since Brad "Freddy" Fittler retired almost 10 years ago. The ability to grind out a win is the hall mark of a strong team.

I will prefer an 8 to 0 victory every day of the week over a 30 to 26 points victory.

Yes mate any one can kick it long, but can they kick it long and into space not finding the fullback or the winger straight away? Juniors long kicking is great and so is his chase. Being able to kick long and pin your opposition in there 20 is not something every kicker can do but it is one thing that Pearcy can do consistently.

I'm not concerned about the lack of points just yet. When coach smiley took over dragqueens in 2009 (?), he worked first on their defensive patterns until they were rock solid under all sorts of conditions. The attack came later. TR appears to be doing the same with this Roosters team.

Over complicating the long kick. My point is long kicking has it's place of course but it's the short kick which can provide long periods of pressure and Pearce should not be allowed near the ball when kicking near the opponents goal line, he never achieves a desired result. We all saw the pressure Wallace was continually putting us under and it's a credit to our defense that we didn't succumb. Last year we would've been RS.
