All good, Would like to see how Mortimer goes at half with Maloney at 6 and Pearce at hooker. Surely this could happen sometimes during games to see how it works. Nothing to lose. Then there is a bloke called Carney off contract next year. The possibilities are endless. Why not Maloney at half, SBW at 6 and Pearce at 9 everynow and then. The team is new and we should look at all combinations to see which one clicks for the team.

agreed, the other thing is that players like smith, farah, friend etc tackle all day, and it looks like they've been doing it all their life.
I cant imagine pearce playing in the middle, tackling the big fellas the entire game. he looks too ... fragile.

Pearce offers a very good package at 7........BUT......his short kicking game is woeful atm.
He will never set the world on fire as a dynamic half......but we knew that.

Just get those grubbers into the in goal area sorted, eh Mitch?
Get this right & watch the points start rolling in.
Most people will know that Pearce is never going to be a dynamic half, it's the morons that can't get that through there thick skulls who expect him to play like Joey did that continually get on here and bag the shit out of him.
I think they need to realise the bloke is here for the long haul and if we surround him with good players who can take up the slack in terms of another creative option from dummy half, an exciting fullback (RTS) and a 5/8th (Maloney) who can run, pass and has a good short kicking game Juniour can concentrate on his strengths.
There is a good chance he will become the most capped rooster ever so the morons calling for his head better get used to it

I've also thought about this too. He's not a creator, he's an organiser. He'll get us into attacking positions but he isn't one to come up with the key play, at least compared to other halves. That's why Carney and Pearce were so successful. In my view once RTS moves to fullback, and if Friend doesn't improve, we should then think about chasing someone like Rein or Srama. Friend and Pearce are very similar players in my view - organisers and grinders, but few big plays between them. You can only ever have one of them in your spine.

He needs to show the defense the ball in two hands more. Too many times he tucks it under his arm and has a go. Players that tuck it under an arm are usually signalling to the defense that they are going to run and not pass. Too easy for them. All the great ball players and half-backs use both hands to mesmerise the defense. Look at SBW's offload to Maloney. Keeps them second guessing as to whether he is going to pass or not.

Pearce runs at the line most times with it in one arm, and when he does nudge through the line a little, is in no position to pass it to supports and usually flings it out. What is this crap from a top rated half-back. C'mon Mitchell. Pass with two hands and the breaks will come. Otherwise, off to hooker for you.

He was very disappointing for us yesterday. That's one area which i think the drongos beat us in yesterday. Halves play.

Yeah that was one of the best duck eggs you'll ever see a halves pair create.

Did you watch the game, broncos had 60% ball and couldn't score, how do you figure our halves were outplayed...

SBW would be just as successfull as GI at fullback, if not better, I reckon. I know it's out there, but hey, you suggested it.

Why don't the Roosters use Brad Fittler to help Pearce, Andrew Johns is working with the Manly halves.
                              It couldn't hurt.
Freddy was his coach at one stage. Didn't work out.
                              Is that the full story,
                              or is your news limited?

One of the reasons they had 60% possession was because they forced 5 dropouts despite their forwards getting rolled.

Our halves couldnt capitalise on our forwards strong play.
