  • The Mini factor ?

Some times I can concentrate for more that 5 minutes and make a judgement call.
Now I know Mini works hard , tries hard ,means well ,he loves the club and we have that respect for him.
Ive been watching him closely this year and I have observed that when a game gets to be about 60 minutes old is when he starts to tire and you start seeing these fumbling and occasional bumbling .
Its been like that for the first 3 games.
its not fitness or any thing like that.
When you suffer bad injuries father time catches up to you a lot quicker. Pain = lack of concentration.
Out of respect for him and the club the best option at some stage in the season to move him to the wing and RTS learn his carft once the attack has settled .Too early yet to put RTS in as the opposition will target him.
We really do need a fullback that can inject him self into the game and contribute a bit more in attack than what MIni does now .I would give it 4 more weeks and swap the two around.

Or phone a friend in Cronulla and get him some peptides

I wouldn't wait 4 weeks Brain. I'd give mini the first 20min there then swap. If Shek is going well leave him there until half time.
Same in the second half. Having Shek sniffing sround when opposition forwards are getting tired could be real dangerous

I think rooboy is on the money. I dont mind mini at 1 because lets face it he is safe there and I feel putting rts there may result in a few errors. In saying that robbo needs a plan to have rts involved more in attack. His footwork is awesome and he certainly would be a handful for tired forwards

Slater spent a lot of time on the wing early in his career. RTS may be stuck there all year but he will be a better player because of it. In the meantime we can only hope that Mini doesn't mess up too badly

I'm not suggesting it as anything but a contingency plan (if we lose players through injury) but...

Has Michael Jennings ever played fullback?

Mini wont be going anywhere, barring injury he will be at fullback for the season...... IMO.

I'll quote a wallster "I can put up with RTS making mistakes at fullback knowing he'll get better and better whereas watching Lemonchello at fullback making mistakes is painful knowing he'll only get worse and worse".

                  Sums it for me.

                  Chook.

His body clock is telling him its time .He really shouldve taken a 2 year deal in England where he would look a world beater.
Who knows Chook may be its too early in the season we know he can do a little better

Maybe, but a "little better" than what he's producing atm is not that much of an improvement to be honest.

we havnt faired well by starting players off at wing and moving them around in the past(skd,bj) but mini did play wing for a couple of yrs before being one of the best fullbacks to play at the chooks. can anyone tell me if mini was a winger in the lower grades?

i still think wingers should be just wingers though, if that means rts to newtown and oldfied in, then so be it.

Mini was a Centre in the lower grades. He didn't play any fullback in the lower grades.

His foot work from what I have seen so far reminds me so much of Ben Barba, RTS neds to be given more time & space with the ball. He is so agile & evasive

Yes. He didn't do too well.
In all fairness though, it was one game in 2011 (last round vs Warriors) and 2011 was by far his worst year since playing in the NRL.
