  • Are some on here being a little too precious ????

Alot of people on here are going on about how this player almost cost us the game, how this player needs to do this better and how we need to buy a better 9 - 7 - 6 - 1 to be competetive.

Last nights game was something else, look past the score line, in the end, we scored enough points to win, but while thats the important thing....... that was not the catalyst for the win.

Looking at the game again, looking at the stats......... This team went out there to play for each other, people may think that this game means nothing... it was only an 8 - 0 win.........delving deeper.... this game gives the team ALOT to look back on going deeper into the season

yes. players have bad games here and there. others go in form slumps. we could easily have lost that game, but we didn't.

The criticism is coming from the same chaps on a weekly basis who are unable to analyse a game objectively on its merit.

Last night was a win of character and it said a lot about the team and their improvement on not only round 1 but improvement on the performances of recent years. We won a game in the same style that St George, Manly or Melbourne have been renowned for in recent seasons and yet there is still complaining. There was a lot to be proud about and I for one am immensely proud.

Muzz, we could wallop the Rorting Storm in a grand final 40-0 and still there would be some on here who would find something to whinge about.. Friendy didn't make 60 tackles, SKD ran sideways, Toups dropped the ball, Mini isn't 21 anymore...the hot chips weren't hot enough, the beer not cold enough, parking impossible, weather unpleasant...blah, blah, blah..It makes me wonder if there were Easts fans who did complain back in the 70's after our grand final wins..You can give some people the moon and they'd whinge for the stars as well...

Some of you guys are being precious. An "objective" person can see the strengths and weaknesses in the team's effort regardless of the result.

If you guys are not alarmed at the lopsided possession and the reasons for it, then I have a fair idea which supporters are incapable of objectivity.

When you hold a team scoreless having made 402 tackles during a game and having repelled countless sets of six, something is going right.

Last year Anasta was on the chopping block as was Smith (and family) and Elliott – justifiably so and I for one was rapt when they all went.

However, already the following have been castigated for a myriad of reasons: FPN, SKD, Tupou, Pearce (as many pages as ‘war and peace’), Mini (admittedly he’s heart attack material at times), Kennedy and Friend and without doubt others.

Point is we are still a very young side and mistakes will happen. Combinations – particularly Maloney and Pearce will take time and remember Jennings and SBW haven’t been with us very long.

Premierships aren’t won in March and as Mario said if the 9, 7, 6 and 1 are the problem who do we replace them with? Cameron Smith, Cronk, Hayne etc. Bottom line is the salary cap so we can’t afford those types of players. We have an excellent pack (both front and back row) and good depth.

What we do have (finally) is a decent coaching group and a group of players who are showing enthusiasm and look like they want to play for the coach and the jersey.

We are 2 and 1, in the eight with a good fixture and hardly any injuries so things could be a lot worse.

To answer the thread title...YES! Some on here are just whinging cnuts. The only team that would keep, said cnuts happy, would cost 40 million per season which would be the Australian squad.

I just have one thing to say "JENNINGS"!!!!

Great post, I wonder if some of the people who have commented negatively even watched the game! Hopefully robbo takes young toupo under his wing this week and spends some time helping developing this young man, what every coach strives to do.

Fans will always rate attack over defense, there seems to be this general consensus that great sides dominate on the back of attack yet you look through history and it's always the great defensive sides that have the most success. Look no further than Melbourne & QLD at the moment.

If we had won this game 40-12 you wouldn't find anyone who was worried about the 12 points we conceded. Yet we win 8-0 and lots of people are worried about the 8 points we scored.

The difference is that there has been little discussion of errors this season. It was the catalyst to our loss in round 1 but the loudest opinion was that Mitchell Pearce and Marty Kennedy cost us the game. The individual blame game has been appalling and shows the character of the people behind these campaigns of negativity.
