Played a little school footy.
Severe lack of size during my junior days ( wtf happened)
PLayed soccer and cricket had a state league soccer contract and a couple of overseas stints playing cricket in England and a stint at the Cricket academy in Adelaide.
At 21 I blew my knee out during soccer pre-season. Never played top level sport again, the bastard still hasn't heeled properly.
My dad did play a couple of first grade games for the magpies, knocked clean out in his second game and bever played again, He did captain coach, Croydon Park and Enfield Federals, before being given a house and job to coach Mt Druitt Millers taking them from last to 2 straight premierships.
He did get offered coaching positions at the dogs and riff which he knocked back due to work and family committments
Thats about it

Back onto the topic at hand, I played from the age of 7 through to 18, had a come back 2 years ago for a bit of fun but yeah could never live up to the standards that the last name carried. Bloody hard I tell you. I'm definitely thinking that I'm going to give coaching a run soon, think I've caught the bug after coaching my sons team on a couple of "fill in situations".Last edited by Bahhhhhhhhhhh; 03-30-2013, 04:33 PM.

I didn't have the size or the ball skills, just speed, so I did running.
Running got me a free college degree in the states (where I put on weight drinking/doing LOTS of weights with all the jocks. Half way through I joined the college's rugby team.)
After college I played 1st grade rugby in Japan for a while.
---
All in all I was fit and fast (trained with the Bulldogs as they used my sprint coach in the late 90s... none of them were as fast as me.) A few scouts showed some interest when they saw my speed and fitness, but lost all interest when they saw me with a footy.
Pros:
- Keen
- Fast
- Fit
Cons:
- Hopeless with a ball
- Lanky
- No "footy brain"... good at bashing forward and finding holes, but not in terms of vision/team tactics

I used to play all the time in school, we were only allowed to play touch but as soon as the bell rang for lunch to finish we would all just smash each other. Used to play all the time. The reason I stopped is because I once injured my shoulder in the gym a couple years ago and still to this day it gives me problems. Whenever I try to tackle with my right arm and my shoulder gets in the wrong positions I get a pinched nerve and my whole arm would be numb and in pain for about 20 minutes, and then I could continue, but I went to the doctor and he told me I shouldn't continue the game after that happens and it used to happen almost every game so I just stopped playing..

on topic, I was a half decent dummy-half for my school rugby league team, coming 2nd in try assists in my first ever year playing league and coming 1st in my second and third seasons. I stopped playing league after my third year and I now play flanker in union. I would have to be the smallest forward running around, and ive picked up plenty of shoulder injuries - and concussions - tackling blokes twice my size running at full pelt.
