  • If SBW leaves at the end of 2013

Let's say SBW decided to leave the NRL at the end of this year, I imagine he would be on some pretty decent coin with the us. Who else would you guys recommenced we sign with his money?

Maybe a gun fullback or a decent hooker if any are on the market, who do we know of that is coming off contract?

I think Mitch Rein, the Dragons' rake, is off contract at the end of this year. Looks like a great young player and I would be happy to take him off their hands if Friend is a let down.

Both RTS and Dan Morts are capable enough to fill those roles. I hope that they both get an opportunity to showcase their talent. I know that many on here have underrated morts at our club, but with the opportunities he's been given off the bench this far, he has not let us down. Watching the first three games yesterday, before reading the comments on here, I thought he has been playing really well out of dummy half. RTS needs to start at fb instead of wing, and then you can watch him dazzle with his footwork and break the line on kick returns.

For mine, I'd be on the look out for a experienced prop who can make metres. They're always handy in a team like ours. There's always been a rumor that tolman may join us. Brent Kite was a good option but he has already been signed off.

I think we're good in the outside backs. In the halves we may be skinny, especially if there are injuries. Maybe Ben Hunt from the Broncos would be a good option....

Apart from that I think that we are ok as far as recruitment and retention is concerned. You need to remember that there are also some good prospects coming off contract at the end of this year. Tasi, Evans, Napa and a few others in the near futures will need contract extensions and that may cost us.
      Comment of the year:

Andrew Johns, Semi-Final vs North Queensland ,

I agree on RTS, But not sold on morts, he is a smart footballer but I just dont think he has the raw strength & speed to be a great hooker for the full 80, I look at the likes of Isac Luke & just wish we had somon

A hooker who tackles below an 80% efficiency rate?

I too long for the days of defensive incompetence.

If you were looking for a like for like replacement I reckon Mateo is an incredibly underrated player. Not in the same class as SBW but then you wont find another second rower in the comp who is.

Personally I'd love Tolman but I'm not holding much hope of that occurring.

Don't forget his grubby tackling techniques and the fact that he stinks of vermin.

Get off it seriously, isac is one of the strongest players in the nrl for his size, he is a good defender & one of the best running hookers in the game.

It amazes me that Souths are undefeated with crap in their spine like Reynolds and Luke whilst we have 2 of the best in the comp in those respective positions in Pearce and Friend.

ideal world... mini and LOD retire. SKD and FPN end up at warriors, dragons penrith or eels.

we sign tolman, brett or josh morris and some other young gun prop/backrower.

.... SBW decides to stay on for an extra year to win back to back premierships instead of just one!!!

Who cares how strong he is, Willie Brown was a machine in the gym from all reports.

He struggles to read the play and his technique is woeful.
