Tasi must not be far away from a first grade berth.

Some good points raised in this thread. Losing Boyd the other night played a huge part in us losing that match. His defence when he plays tight is good for the team.
I'm not sold on LOD or MK. Tasi would have to be real close to getting back into first grade you would think.
I wouldn't mind seeing Nappa or Evans coming off the bench instead of LOD if he doesn't start producing some better quality football

It was our scrambling and goal line defence that stopped them in the first half.
Can't agree mate. We matched them in the first half and got slaughtered in the second. - http://live.nrlstats.com/matches/nrl/match20143.html

          Chook.
They did get a few piggy backs from penalties I suppose.

Tolman is good but imo, someone like bosden could develop into that type of handy player without the price tag. Also on LOD, I dont think he was great against canberra either but dont forget he is only a couple of games into his NRL return and I thought he was dynamite against a big pack and away to the warriors. What the weekend proved was that he needs to be used exclusively off the bench in short, strong bursts as his days of starting and racking up the numbers are over. That certainly doesnt mean he wont play a role especially in big games and come finals. He is a proven leader and big game player. These comments are very premature imo

I would definitely bring Tasi in this Friday night in place of Lui. I think Lui has done alright but Tasi's extra experience and explosiveness would come in handy.

Agree with you Jack. He's a fantasy football freak, nothing more. He has played under Bellamy and Hasler, the two best coaches in the business and neither have batted an eyelid at the prospect of losing him. That speaks volumes in my view as to his true value.

Definenetly not worth what parra are offering him. Good solid player but never set the world on fire at Melbourne and was part of a very dominant forward pack last year. Interesting to see if he can re-produce that form this year but still doesn't justify the money parra want to give him

Fair point.. I think he would be great but for a value of about $250K-300K range. When you get beyond that then it is over the odds.. I think the same of Gallen.. He holds back Cronulla.. All his hitups do is boost his stat line but he stifles the attack.. Cronulla and NSW imho will do jack whilst Gallen is in the team hogging all the ball.

Napa and Evans are no ordinary prospects, they are young stars in the makng. Our club has invested heavily in youth and these two are destined for big things. Both played u 20s origin and certainly didn't look out of place last year.

I don't believe that there is a certain age for young players to make their debut in the forwards. A guy like Aaron woods is a perfect example of that. I can't really see and of these two players disappointing us if they were given an opportunity. Playing against real men, not young boys, in Newtown is a welcome change though. How I yearn for the days of the old fashioned reserve grade comp.
                          Comment of the year:

Andrew Johns, Semi-Final vs North Queensland ,

"It's touched Lui's hand and travelled forward but that's not a knock on"

Andrew Fifita is another who comes to mind in recent seasons. He came off the bench for the Tigers in 2010 straight out of the 20s and made an immediate impact.

Re Tolman the toiler...he is not worth anywhere near the reported $2m Parra are offering him for the next 3 seasons. IMO he is just a worker and worth 300K tops per season.

I think that those who think our forwards are going ok are a bit disillusioned. Our go forward is near the worst in the comp and the two times we have come up against decent packs we have been steamrolled.

That said I agree that JWH and Moa have been doing a good job starting but our bench impact has been ordinary. In my opinion Evans or Napa are worth a try.

The Warriors and Broncos have good packs and the Raiders only got us by 2 points after playing a perfect half of football.

Tomorrow night is a litmus test for our pigs as they need to get over a depleted dogs pack convincingly. That said, I think Robbo is still learning how to use his bench in the NRL. He seems to be leaving JWH and Moa on for much longer opening periods and rotating the second row earlier. And he still needs to work out how to use Morts and Friend to get the best out of both.

It's a learning curve for everyone still at this stage.

                                Chook.
