  • Jake Friend

Has copped some ridiculous flack on here over the past year but boy was he good tonight and I think he has been fantastic all year. His rotation with mortimer as well is definitely working wonders for us and friend is only 22 with 100 games under his belt. Pearce was also brilliant tonight imo in all aspects. took complete control of the game which allowed maloney to pick and choose and perform the way he did

Robbo got the rotation bang on tonight, Friendy only had to make 26 tackles for the night and he was so fresh late in the game and ripped the Dogs apart at the ruck.

I have to say I was hoping Mortimer stayed on.

Friend proved me wrong when he came back on.

          He played very well.

Last week also, at least in the first half.

I've been a big critic but he's stepped up.

Robbo finally got it bang on tonight, Friend for the first 30mins and then Mortimer for the next 30 and then Friend for the last 20!

Great coaching by our great coaching team.

I've been a big fan of Jake's for several years, mainly for his defense...
This year his attacking skills have grown...
He no longer just passes out of dummy half...
He's darting from dummy half more, taking on the defense, & has them in two minds as to what he'll do...
He's developed a great little kicking game also...

                        I thought the same thing.
It worked much better getting Morts on earlier in the game rather than the last 20. I was very impressed with both Friend and Morts!!!

Yes, as elo and Luke have stated, the rotation was timed very well and allowed both players to flourish against the 'dogs. It was odd seeing Jake not display signs of exhaustion towards the end of a game.

Exactly. He didn't have to make +35 tackles aswell which would have helped. Those calling for him to play 80 min are mad. Look at what he brings to the side when he is given a spell. Still a little slow passing from the ruck but no doubt his best game in a long time
