I share your anger, but I don't think there was any corruption, and believe the refs did a pretty solid, consistent job.

TBH it only makes it worse thinking of conspiracies.

The ref'ing this season has been frustrating though... hard to say, but every season they police different things, and use different definitions. The game started off as basically Union with a 6 tackle rule (the philosophy there being that you'd get more running 'coz the rugby boys spend 1/2 their time on the ground wrestling, and spectators can't even see the ball.)

That worked for a bit...

But now it's more a game where you grapple, wrestle and pull the guys in defence. The definition of "the man being held", "the man being in control" and "a second movement" change every day... you've gotta break the traditional definitions of those rules in order to win, and really be on top of what the ref's will call you up for. Today for example... forget who took it... Huraki? Got tackled 20 out or something, 2 boys dragged him back over into our goal area and forced a dropout. Now if being held by 2 blokes and dragged 20m isn't held, I dunno WTF held is! Old days the guys would have been pinged for holding onto the guy for too long...

It's smart stuff like that which is putting the opposition on top of us. Our problem is our tactics are too honest! We're not "cheating" (i.e. pushing the rules to their limits) so we keep getting penalised for mistakes that are caused by the opposition breaking old rules which no longer exist. We need to get on top of this and start playing smarter footy next season!

Doesnt help when our blokes are batting the ball dead instead of trying to catch the bloody thing then tyake 2 mins for the dropout when there is only 9 mins to go, 2 behind and we waste time, corrupt maybe stupid definately
