Mini is horrible and and it is obvious for all to see.

Watching the replay today i heard Gus mention how Minis drop ball changed the course of the game last week, and how it couldve potentially happened again with yesterdays simple error.

He is well past it and has been given a token ride at no.1 by the Club!

However this doesn't dismiss the fact that Mini has made some absolute rookie errors in the first 6 rounds and adds nearly nothing in attack.

Truth is the perception we're willing to confront, what you look at and what you see can be two different things. Unfortunately far too many people are letting their emotions get in the way of the reality that Mini is well past it and has been for some time now.
Aside from the fundamental errors his lack of offering anything in attack is the big problem. He stifles our attack when he gets involved with stupid passes or kicks. He is probably the worst fullback in that area. Other fullbacks give their team that extra attacking option. That kick where he took it on himself from dummy half where the dogs had that fortunate accidental offside was another example. He just hasn't got the skills to attempt rubbish like that.

I respect Mini 100% for many reasons but last nite at the game I was watching the demise of a champion and upsetting to watch the errors he made and even the follow thru kick showed how champions lose their timing with age

He has been for some time.

I too watched the replay today. I noticed three big mistakes.

          1. The sitter he dropped cold

          2. Getting in the way for chasing one of the grubbers put through. Pearce was near him and he would have got to it. Instead mini kicks the ball very deep and the ball easily goes dead. Gould says something like :" with a last name like his, you'd think he'd know how to soccer the ball better than that."

          3. but by far his biggest mistake was a crazy ball he gave big dan toops on a kick return. Toops caught the ball with his finger tips literally off his boots with bulldogs chasers hounding him.The score was very a tight one back then as well.

For someone who's so safe at the back, he is losing some credibility.
          Comment of the year:

Yeah, like when he failed to pick up that ball off his bootlaces last week to score against Canberra. A real fullback would have scored.

Time will tell. So far when the game is in the balance SBW has been coming up with all the big plays.

At this point in time I'd say I underestimated SBW's creative ability more than Maloney's.

Do you still think Mini is the best fullback at the club?

This actually shows his inconsistency. He should have dropped that pass he is hard to rely upon.

Seriously, his strength was always his ability to bust a tackle. That is gone.
His chiming into the backline is always a clanger.
He scares me when he doesnt pass and her petrifies me when he does.
Generally safe under a high ball and his defence has been ok. He has a problem with grubbers.

Love him to death but gee its heart in mouth stuff with him.

We are building a team so lets build it; put RTS to FB and let him learn. Put mini on the wing so as there are few grubbers he has to contend with.

I'm no spring chicken and its tough realizing that you cant do what you used to be able to do but that is the lot we are dealt. Accept it!

One pick-up doesn't make up for everything else.

I'll take that one catch and up you with the P-L-E-N-T-Y of times Pearce has given him one in the bread basket only for flipper hands to make a meal out of. To think if he actually took one on those he could possibly have ONE line break against his name in the last two years. I think every other fullback has atleast one line break in their stats in the last two years.

i think his loose passes are more a worry than his ability under the high ball. rts may offer more in the kick return departement
His ability under the high ball at fullback and ability under a high ball from cross field kicks to the wing with tall wingers beating down on him and getting up hggh to contest the ball are two very different things
His ability under the high ball should never be in question, that's the one thing that never worries me about Mini.

It's his ability to clean up a grubber or how he continually gets driven back from the kick reception or how he can't catch a simple inside ball that's of concern.

I know he's a legend, but there's only so much you can stick up for the bloke.

                          He's past it Andy....end of....

Some of you people, honestly. This is a LEGEND of the club! And there's absolutely no respect for him from a lot of you.

What irks me is that when we win, you lot get to celebrate just like those of us who do actually support the players. Those of you who are bagging Minichiello (the captain, no less) wouldn't get the time of day from the likes of Pearce, SBW, Maloney, JWH, etc.

They'd spit in your face if only they knew.

Winning is not everything, you know.

                              What loser told you that???

Freddy was a legend of the club but got out as a player while he was still at the top of his game.

Mini is nowhere near the top of his game. The position itself has passed Mini by. Let alone his body and age.

I don't bag the bloke but I feel everyone's frustrations that do.

More than anything I feel pity for Mini. He is willing but unable, it's sad to watch.

I'd hate to be carried which I believe is happening to Mini.

All that said I am glad we kept Mini over Bwaiff. One was always going to be kept IMO, we needed the experience and leader at the club.

I just hope we are good enough this year to carry Mini. We are losing a lot with him in such a vital attacking position.

If the players and coaches are happy well I can live with it, I won't bang on every week about the farking elephant in the corner.

Doesn't mean I disagree with the majority's sentiment. Mini is a liability.

                              You know it makes sense.

I have always stuck up for Mini but i was horrified watching a couple of his clangers the other night, the way he just spilled that kick when he had no pressure on him, that pass that he threw to RTS's ankles coming out from the goal line and the loose ball that all he had to was dribble it through lightly to score a possible try instead he almost kicks in into the SCG on the full, his timing and coordination are just not there anymore, the first blunder especially could have swung the momentum of the game, its a hard one though because his captaincy has been first rate this year and having an older wiser head on the field is invaluable to the younger players we have in this side.
