I certainly wouldn't object to a 5 yr contract for Robbo, especially due to the youth of the current squad, hopefully he can build a dynasty with all the youngsters.

Smiths first yr was good too and he made the gf so lets not get to far ahead of ourselves, for of our 5 buys for the year have been amazing for us in sbw, maloney jennings and moa. Regardless how you finish the first yr its the second yr that seems to make and break you these days. Looks like another grand finalist may miss the 8 again this yr which would be 4 yrs straight.

Let's not overlook the stellar work Brian Smith did in developing this very young squad.

Russell Crowe also said JT should have the Souths coaching gig for life after getting them into the finals for the first time since 1989 and look how that turned out. Slow and steady wins the race. Patience grasshoppers...

                      Come on ..Life ?
A few years at a time is sufficient.

When Ricky won a comp in his first year, there were calls for signing him for life, by the 5th year most wanted him out.
Everyone was unbelievably ecstatic with the turn around Brian Smith made in his first year, by year 3 he was on the nose. Not saying that will happen this time, but who can be sure how things will be in 2 or 3 years time.

I understand your emthusiasm for the great start Trobbo has made, but I can't go along with a 'life' offer

I'm not sure about the long long term deals with coaches.

I was an advocate to sign Smithy long term after his Dally M coach of the year performance...as were others... but then people fell out of love and performances waned, players wanted to control things etc..

Robbo is a breath of fresh air for everyone atm...but things and people change...how will he go post sbw? ...

If brian smith had this caliber of players available tp him we would be 6-0 at the moment.
