Mini costs us virtually nothing because of his long service allowance.

And someone else will step in and take that long service money meaning whatever he's on will still become available...

What do you think he is on? 250 300k? thats still enough to secure a younger player like langi, on top of what he is already on. who else will take the long service money ? no ones been here as long as mini

Langi is just one more positive from letting Perrett go.

            Chook.

Langi has been playing inspired football for the Under 20's this season and has turned a few games based on his involvement late in the games. An inspired recruit from the Bulldogs in exchange for Lloyd Perrett who followed his brother Sam to the bulldogs, last year. He will be a handy replacement when we lose Maloney for Origin and he will he will not let us down.

Langi was close to man of the match tonight, only beaten by Fuifui who had a blinder. Langi can step off both feet and is deadly close to the line. He also has a great pass and would be wasted in the backrow plus he has a brain and leads from the front. Seluini also has a great game. He will be Friend's backup hooker during Origin and we won't be any worse off. He gains tens of metres each time he runs from dummy half and gets the momentum going. Did not see Lasi for most of the game except in the last minute when he should have scored, except for a double movement. Moa was strong in defence and did his usual hit ups. Oldfield was steady.

Cannot wait for Thursday afternoon !!

I'm pessimistic about keeping Langi. We are locked into Pearce & Maloney for a few years & there are teams that could use him in FG now or next year. The Warriors could use him straight away. Melbourne, sans Widdop, could use him next year & the Riff with Soward at 1/2 could also use him next season. I hope I'm wrong & we keep him long term.

Langi could be our perfect utility bench player for the next couple years maybe even a full time centre or backrower so i dont think having pearce & maloney in the halves will stop us from keeping him

And if Mitchell Pearce were to move...either positions or clubs then Langi would be a handy replacement. If Morty wasn't a walk up starter that is.
                        SUPER DRAGON!

I think you'll find Langi will stay on in first grade after he fills in at Origin time. Obviously not in the halves but I think he'll be either starting or on the bench playing as a left edge backrower. I feel the club sees him as the long term replacement for SBW. His power in the tackle for such a young guy is quite sensational. At times in the 20s when the team is on the ropes he'll get to first receiver on the left of the ruck and seemingly break the line at will with that left foot step but I didn't expect him to break the line so easily against full time first graders. His line running in my opinion lots as good as Aubusson's but we haven't seen it much this season cos he's been in the halves. In the final against the Warriors last season the lines he was hitting showed how much of a natural footballer he is, not something you would expect to see from an 18 year old these days. POS knows how lucky we were to snag him and won't be letting him go any time soon.

What concerns me is the jump in salary for players who like Joel Thompson and Gareth Widdop, who are no better than slightly above average. I'm afraid that some club will offer him a contract that we won't be able to match.

I'm pretty confident we signed him on for 3 years so that would mean he's off contract at the end of 2015. I might not have that right but if I do then it's not like we're gonna release the bloke when he's seen as potentially a gun first grader. Maybe once his contract ends it may be a problem but playing for a winning team might mean more than getting an extra 100k to him, especially if he gets a reasonably big contract off us. No need to worry about it just yet.
