I'm of the opinion Willie Mason must not be at the Roosters in 2010. He does not give a hoot about the Roosters and has been 'retired' since coming to the Roosters.

              Roosters.

I received my first roosters RW&B wooden spoon in the mail today. Figured out it was from my close friends Vermin loving boyfriend. Not that many people I know in the country area where the parcel originated from.

Cheeky bugger even put it in a "Congratulations" bottle bag with "Your Trophy" written on the card. Believe me I will be keeping these, and hoping to use it to return the favour in the next year or so.

And there's more ... the bastard also included a snippet from the paper about our season of shame. The summary was pretty telling:

                  Off field incidents: 8
                  Games won: 5
                  Position: Last.

THE ONLY WAY IS UP PEOPLES. (GOD I HOPE SO ANYWAY)
Supporting the RW&B, through good times and bad times.

with the amount of depth we will have next year i believe we can cut the crap and have a solid side like below.

                      1.mini
                      2.Graham
                      3.Williamson/ Naughton
                      4. Linnet/ Naughton
                      5. Perret
                      6.Carney
                      7. Pearce
                      13. Anasta
                      12. Maubs
                      11. Myles
                      10. FPN/Paea
                      9. Friend
                      8. Ryles

                      14. Weara- Hargraves
                      15. Mason
                      16. Symonds
                      17. cherro???

jones, jaubs, skd, sa and either fpn or paea all go to newtown, with the players we have coming in there is no spot for them in fg next year.

i believe this is a well balanced side with the right mixture of youth and experience, speed and skill, which is what we need. although imo we still need to fill a bench spot, someone who is a big impact player, that can quickly inject themselves into the game, the same as an isacc luke or flannery - cherro maybe??

mason is at his best when he is fired up coming of the bench, and hargraves should add a lot when he comes on after the 5 minutes that fpn or paea will play.

                      good team lineup?

                          11. Myles
                          12. Symonds
                          13. Maubs

                          14. FPN/Paea
                          15. JWH
                          16. Mason
                          17. Jones

Dont think anasta has the defensive workrate to play in the backrow and considering carney is fresh back to first grade/proffessional footy, easing him in from fullback would be advantageous. Also, considering fullback is practically 5/8 these days anyway, it would give anasta and carney the same sort of freedom as having them at lock and 5/8 respectively except we have maubs at lock who actually offers us heaps more in the backrow. i also think his running game is up to fullback and being a half means that he is good at reading the game which would prove invaluable when playing at the back.

I think we need mase to come off the bench for experience as i think ryles offers us enough experience, size and go forward in the opening exchanges. Myles has played his best footy in the backrow and everytime he has played there for us, he has shone. Losing fitzy means we need some people to shoulder his workrate and in maubs and myles in particular as well as symonds, i see a capacity to do that. The backrow is also well balanced - myles as a third prop and destructive/aggressive role, symonds as the creative wide-running backrower and maubs in the typical workaholic role at lock except given he is coming from the backline, his speed and skill would also prove beneficial up the middle of the ruck in attack and defence.

                            My take...

Phil Graham is a winger not a centre....

Carney is a halfback and a better halfback than Mitchell Pearce..

Anasta is a better 5/8 than Pearce...Where does this leave Pearce...???

Mitchell Aubbuson should be our lock to replace Fitzy...

JWH will end up starting games at prop..

Minichello is the best fullback at the club and he must be played there..

                            We need a centre badly...

                              Disagree on both of these.

For a long time, Raiders had a halves combination of Campese/Carney - however Raiders fans believed that this did not work as Carney is a better runner at five-eighth, and he is limited as a halfback. They all wanted a specialist halfback, with Carney to five-eighth and Campese to lock.

Graham has played more than 80% of his first grade games at centre, where he has been most successful. His pace is an asset a little bit closer in, where we need his incisiveness. He was also signed specifically as a centre too, so expect to see him playing there.

                              The rest, I agree with.

Unfortunately, we have two very good five-eighths, but it means that our best lock is forced into the centres (Morbs).

A bench of Jones (signed until 2012), Symonds (signed until 2011), Myles (signed until 2012) and Nuuausala (signed until 2011) could be the modern-day equivalent of our powerful early-2000's bench of Wing, Flannery, Morley and Lomu.

All we need to do is sort out our starting props (Ryles to hopefully be the experienced one, with Paea, Waqa, Kennedy, Masoe and JWH providing plenty of competition for that one spot), and our backrow (Mason to probably be the experienced one, with Conn, Kouparitsas, Cherrington, Aubusson and again JWH competing for that spot). Anasta at lock is almost a given, as is Friend at hooker.

                                I would have:

                                1 Todd Carney
                                2 Anthony Minichiello
                                3 Tom Symonds
                                4 Phil Graham
                                5 Sam Perrett
                                6 Braith Anasta
                                7 Mitchell Pearce
                                8 Lopini Paea
                                9 Jake Friend
                                10 Frank-Paul Nuausala
                                11 Nate Myles
                                12 James Aubusson
                                13 Mitch Aubusson

                                14 Ben Jones
                                15 Martin Kennedy
                                16 Willie Mason
                                17 Jared Waerea-Hargreaves

Had some trouble filling the second row.
Decided on James Aubusson, he's a tackling machine and could be the answer to our problem of lacking a geniune workhorse backrower.

                                Thoughts?
