I think his speed, line breaking ability and instinctual play would make him a decent fullback and with the increased importance of a creative and game breaking fullback he might be our best bet with mini on the wing. I cant see any other option apart from get rid of braith, carney to 5/8 and use braith's money on another outside back for some strike power or on a replacement for fitzy - experienced workhorse
Unfortunately Anasta has to be shipped to another club as their is nowhere to slot him into our side!!

I think lock is the most logical choice, moreso than 5/8th!!!
Id rather weaken the lock position than the 5/8th position,we need Carney and Pearce to work up a combo and get a good understanding for eachothers game..
Hopefully over the next few years they will become the most lethal halves pairing in the comp, they sure have the potential..
In saying that,im not sure if we have a strong enough lock at the moment to keep Anasta away from the position.

I think a lot of the team selections I believe depend on Minichiello. If he is firing and has a massive pre-season, he will retain the fullback role which ultimately shifts Carney to five-eighth and Anasta to lock. But if he is not right and doesn't aim up, he'll be shafted to the wing and Carney will play fullback. At the moment I'd be going with:
1. Todd Carney (GK)
2. Sam Perrett
3. Tom Symonds
4. Phil Graham
5. Anthony Minichiello
6. Braith Anasta (c)
7. Mitchell Pearce
8. Frank Paul-Nuusuala
9. Jake Friend
10. Martin Kennedy
11. Willie Mason
12. Nate Myles
13. Mitchell Aubusson
14. Lopini Paea
15. Anthony Cherrington
16. Jared Wearea-Hargreaves
17. Ben Jones
Looks like a team capable of marching into the top 8, and with luck can make the top 4. With the backs, I've gone for Carney at fullback because he needs to fit somewhere and this is the best option at the moment for him. I'd have a centre pairing of Symonds and Graham just because they are complete opposites which can benefit the team. Graham has speed and agility and Symonds is a good hole runner who can exploit any gaps out wide. Minichiello and Perrett on the wings is where they need to be because they are safe and reliable and get the job done. Williamson and Moeakiola should start in NYC and Linnett and Naughton start in NSW Cup and work their way up. Anasta needs to be in five-eighth because he was one of our best this year and deserves first shot at his position. Pearce is an obvious one. The forward pack is a solid mix with both workers and impact players. Aubusson at lock I think should be the go because he is great everytime he plays there. Mason and Myles pretty much pick themselves and the real bolter is Martin Kennedy. He can carry a lot of the early workload which allows Paea to come off the bench in which he plays best. The bench is full of impact and that's what a bench is there for. All round good team who can cause the competition headaches.

If Anasta is going to be lock he needs the off-season to prepare that's all I'm saying, pinning our hopes on Carney succeeding at fullback is a massive risk... if it doesn't work we'll already be a month or two behind the rest of the teams only a few rounds into the season.
Buying Carney whilst we had Anasta was stupid in the first place, I said this from the start... now we've got to weaken other positions just so we can fit in our captain. The club shuold've just bitten the bullet and either not signed Carney or just released Anasta.
