For me, Perrett is a fullback more than he is a winger, so i am with Gus, put Sam at fullback, he is now our MOST RELIABLE option.
He has proven himself that he can handle the fullback role at both club and international level both with great success.
I can invisage Brian Smith using Sammy in a role similar to Kurt Gidley, roving around in attack as an extra half that can chime in to the attacking line when required.

Doesn't have the footwork or the passing game.

Seriously you must be joking imho
As for a passing game its not a pre requisite to play fullback
An advantage yes but not necessary at all
I was talking about the comparison to Gidley.
Perret does not have the footwork to become an extra half. He is a powerful runner but the type of footwork needed for a playmaking fullback, he does not possess.
I don't mind him playing the current fullback role. Reasonably safe at the back, and a great metre eater. I wouldn't mind seeing him work on his pace and support play a bit.

Now I am convinced on this kid, for sure. Team next year will have two selection questions IMO.
First issue, either:
1. Minichiello, 3. Aubusson, 6. Carney, 13. Anasta
OR
1. Carney, 3. Minichiello, 6. Anasta, 13. Aubusson
Solution: I think that we should go with the first option, but have Aansta defending in the centres and Aubusson defending at lock. I don't like the thought of Carney at fullback.
Second issue is either:
8. Myles, 12. Conn, Paea dropped
OR
8. Paea, 12. Myles, Conn dropped
Solution: Not a big deal really, just depends on team balance. Paea provides more go-forward and tackle breaking, but Conn offers more grit and better defense. Gives us options.
The rest of the team will be:
1.
2. Sam Perrett
3.
4. Phil Graham
5. Shaun Kenny-Dowall
6.
7. Pearce
8.
9. Jake Friend
10. Jason Ryles
11. Willie Mason
12.
13.
14. Ben Jones
15. Tom Symonds
16. Jared Waerea-Hargreaves
17. Frank-Paul Nuuausala

Interesting that you are still including BWM in your team list Mack as I think the girlfriend beater will take his spot. Personally, I can't see Mini anywhere but at 1 and the odd man out being Anasta. It will be interesting to see what Brian does with James Aubusson too."The price of freedom is eternal vigilance."

I think his support play improved a bit last season

imho he much better at centre than wing
And why is Mason in your starting 13 the bloke is past it and only tries when all the stars align (when he feels like it)

That leaves myles to slot into the backrow. I think that maubs should play lock but because all or supremley talented backs are still young and raw, im happy for maubs to stay in the centres playing inside graham and defending alongside carney - will serve to protect him a little defensively. Braith into the 12 jumper playing a wide running free roving role with williamson outside him - both have size, power, strength and skill so can even almost interchange etc with either graham or mini on that wing - speed and acceleration to burn as well as great finishing ability. I think conn at lock would be dynamite as well and would allow us to have braith having this sort of free, widerunning role because of the work he gets through.
Mase looks all but certain to leave so he is the one that misses out. Here are roz's rooters:
1. Perrett
2. Graham
3. Maubs
4. Williamson
5. Miniciello
6. Carney
7. Pearce
8. FPN
9. Friend
10. Ryles
11. Myles
12. Anasta (c)
13. Conn
14. Paea
15. JWH
16. Symonds/Cherrington
17. Jones
That is a bloody good side imo. Speed and strike power in the backs. A tidy balance of youth and experience across the paddock and plenty of get go about that pack. I think mini should stay on the wing - this will be hi last season or so so we need to start looking toward the future ie pez. I think this will take pressure off him and allow him to help Williamson make the transition to first grade. He can still play a roving type role in attack and come in off his wing sniffing out opportuinities which would make him even more dangerous and unpredicatable - pez and mini swapping from time to time is definatley a decent option imo.
The bench is full of dynamic impact players and destroyers whilst the starting side has plenty of aggression and seasoned competitors. If smith can get the hunger into myles, ryles and conn brings his typically aggressive game we are going to have a very imposing and aggressive pack thats for sure. Id also be inclined to say that as long as maubs is in the centres, I think jaubs is a look in at lock as well imo. So conn and jaubs can lock horns over that role (pardon the pun).
thoughts......

However if Willie does leave as expected, Cherrington is a straight swap.

What has Cherrinton done in the past 12 months to deserve a start in top side? His most agressive performance was off the field, belting his girlfriend.
He was injured most of the year and didn't show that much when he was on the park. Certainly nothing worth cheering about.
He should be starting season 2010 with the Jets and actually playing some quality football consistently before he is gifted a spot in the 17. We have more than enough forwards to make him fight for a position.

We could always go with a pack of:
Ryles
Friend
Myles
Waerea-Hargreaves
Conn
Anasta
Jones
Symonds
Paea
Nuuausala
That is assuming that Mason is going to be released, and Cherrington is left in Newtown. I like it personally, has a bit of balance between explosiveness and grit. Although I have my doubts that Cherrington will be playing for Newtown considering he was just recently re-signed on an extended contract. Unless he is being groomed as Paea's replacement as a bench impact man.
