From Steve Mascord on rl fans....

FOR the most part, the likely influx of English players to the NRL next year is being greeted positively.

Sure, few people know who Mike Cooper is. In fact, when I was talking about Sam Tomkins on the ABC last week, veteran former coach Warren Ryan said: “Now, explain to everyone who Sam Tomkins is”.

But Gareth Hock did a round of newspaper interviews last week and came across well. The angle that he regrets taking cocaine was really just a way of telling NRL fans he did it in the first place. Most would not be aware of that, either.

The New Zealand Warriors remain favourites for Tomkins, although I did have someone insist to me last night that he was already a done deal at Sydney Roosters.

Is the line in bold type still Mascord's article, or your input?

          Mascord's article - from yesterday.

I'm nowhere near close enough to being 'in the know' to go out on a limb like that.

It's a done deal...in the Brett Kimmorley vein.

            Chook.

I'll wait for Matty Johns to confirm it. His strike rate is the best around.

I wouldn't be showing that last video to highlight his defensive qualities though. WOW!

Are you surprised by how well Sam Moa is performing for us thus far?
Also, how do you think Gareth Hock & Lee Mossop will go DownUnder in 2014? They sound like a couple of knuckleheads.
Another Pom is headed to our shores next year- Mike Cooper to St George
I'll be honest I never really took much notice of Sam Moa while he was over here buts he's certainly playing well for the roosters.
I love Gareth Hock, he'll definatley bring some biff to the NRL, can have poor discipline though, the lads got some mungrel in him as you say.
Mossop & Cooper are good players, and another that could be heading down under to Cronulla is a winger called Tom Briscoe from Hull, not a massive fan of his. There's better young english backs than him

That leaves the New Zealand Warriors as favourites to get Tomkins, although they are also hesitating at his asking price of nearly $1 million a season.

                    Let them have him.

                    Transfer fee?
Thought they were abolished long ago.
