  • Whats doing with Boyd Cordner???????

Firstly I am a huge fan of Boyd. I have a mate from Old Bar and therefore have kept an eye on this bloke for years and am stoked for the guy to get where he is right now......However........

City v Country is played. Cordner plays well without setting the game on fire and all we hear is Corner this Cordner that, it went on and on......really!!

So then Roosters v Dragons. Boyd wins man of the match! mmmm....really!!! Once again had a good game but best on ground, NO WAY........

Stats can lie but not these ones......Cordner 52min, 9 hit ups (101m) 22 tkls.
    JWH 59min, 18 hit ups (164m) 34 tkls plus 4 offloads
through in the performance of Mitch, Sam and Sonny, all i thought went better than Boyd.

now someone tells me Boyd is going to be on the footy show!!!!

All this points to Cordner being placed on the bench for the Blues!! They did the same thing with Jamie Buerer.

very interesting!!! any thoughts????? GO CHOOKS

While I agree that they definitely love to push a bolter every year, I think he thoroughly deserves to be in the frame for origin. Yes he is still very young but he is absolutely made for origin. He runs great lines, has ball playing ability, makes great metres every run with quick play the balls, and is an exceptional defender. I'd rather Boyd Cordner next to me than Ben Creagh. Also he'd probably come off the bench and play left edge which, if Maloney is picked, would give the Blues a Roosters left edge combination who have had plenty of time training and playing next to each other. In regards to his game against the Dragons, and this was alluded to by Robinson in the press conference. While he set up the first try, he actually ran the ball the tackle before both the 2nd and 3rd tries as well. Both runs had Saints on the back foot which allowed us to shift wide. The effectiveness of his running shows in his metres per run. He always lands on his stomach for a quick play the ball due to his footwork before the line.

In saying all this, it sounds like from his MotM interview that he is happy to wait a few years. But realistically he is probably only behind Lewis, Watmough, Bird, Gallen (if he plays lock) and Stewart (who has hardly played this year). So if one of those guys goes down he could very well be the next in line. For mine if he didn't injure his shoulder in the Tigers trial he would have been almost a certainty to get picked. In the Manly trial he was dominating with every run and every tackle. Such a shame he's playing needled up.

Interesting. I love it - he's a great player and he brings a hell of a lot to the side when he plays.

I reckon if he didn't get k.o'd against the Raiders, we'd have won that one. He just brings a lot of starch to that middle ruck area, which is infectious.

I agree with you that him getting the MOM on ANZAC Day was a bit suss. He was great in his first spell, hitting the line hard and getting the defence on the back foot big-style, but he went MIA when he got back on (or was over-shaddowed by other players as the game had evolved by then). He was, however really good in the City Country game playing as a wide-running left-edge back rower. He was close to best-on-ground in that game, IMO, and think he'd be better-suited to that role in our current side with perhaps FPN coming back in to lock, and Aubbo going to the bench.
Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

I had a pair of them once when I was about 14.

An angry islander relieved me of them at Canley Vale station.

Greedy: "Come on mate, they won't even go close to fitting you"

A.I: "They'll fit someone for 100 bucks, give me your ****en shoes before I squash you ****"

                Greedy: "Yes sir, sorry sir...."

Suffice to say, I havent bought a pair of Nikes since...

Am I the only one who hates seeing our Rooster Boys picked up at SOO time??

Sure I love watching State of Origin but we are going to be devastated through origin period. Pearce, Maloney and Jennings are all certain starters. With Cordner possibly getting a bench spot we will have a tough few months through SOO!!!

Yes, there was no way he was the MOM, against Saints, but Channel 9 are always pushing some agenda these days, he will win plenty MOM awards during his career, and earn them, but the one the other day, must of been a raffle in the channel 9 box.

If you get players picked, at least you're winning games

If you don't want anyone picked, don't complain about being near the bottom of the ladder

so your saying players like gallen carney thurstons scott tamou morris bros should not be selected cos they are nearer the bottom of the ladder? Yet souths who are 2nd may only be represented by inglis.

We have Eels, Manly, and Sharks during that period.

Eels are sh#t & Manly also will have a few out but that will be an EXTREMELY DIFFICULT GAME.

Sharks will have Gal out and r doing sh#t

The only issue with Cordner playing SOO this year is his shoulder.

                              He is definitely good enough.

I reckon he would be playing 80 mins every week, or close to it, if fully fit.
