Maloney to give Carney the boot for Blues
James Maloney is fast overtaking Todd Carney in the battle for the NSW five-eighth spot – largely because of his radar right boot. While Carney can't get a crack at goal-kicking at club level and missed four field goal shots for the Sharks last Sunday, Maloney is the most accurate sharpshooter in the NRL. The Roosters star is batting at over 80 per cent and with Origin matches often decided by under six points, Blues coach Laurie Daley is leaning towards the in-form Roosters pivot. Carney's form has been fair, but Queensland would be more than happy to see him and Mitchell Pearce as the Blues halves yet again. Maloney has been a standout and deserves a shot alongside Pearce, his partner at club level every weekend.
Fittler was committed to our club, he didn't rock up to pre-season training in February and wasn't signing one year contracts.
You're kidding aren't you with that comparison?
I like Sonny, he's been nothing but professional and respectful since arriving at our club and we get him at a great price because we let him play Union and box during the off-season. It's a fair trade off but he's in no position to be captaining our club, our proud club. It's a slap in the face to the likes of Freddy, Fitzy, Ricko, Mini & even Braith who all genuinely cared about our club and put their heart and soul into the club.
If he wants to commit long term to our club then maybe we can entertain the idea but not until then.
You can twist your story all you like, 6, but Freddy had not "earnt the right through years of loyalty & service to the club" ... your words, not mine. I'm not saying he shouldn't have been captain, and I'm making no comparisons at all, I'm merely pointing out that Freddy did not meet your stated criteria. The fact that your now justifying his appointment, despite your own criteria disallowing him, just proves that you obviously got it wrong the first time.
I think you mean Brad Fittler. He became el capitano under fredoir's reign.
Ricky Stuart brought him here in his last year, he was partly responsible for Braith being captain. Mainly because the other candidates were either injured (Mini), morally questionable (Myles, Mason) or highly unqualified (Pearce.)

The odd thing with Maloney's goal kicking, he has missed a few easy goals. The kicks he's missed that you expected him to get were all about 15mtrs to the side of the post namely in the Vermin, Anzac Day & Penriff games. Yet he seems more confident kicking from the touchline .... go figure ?

I remember him kicking one from the touchline, in the pissing down rain to beat us on the bell a few years back.
