I agree I don't think we can hold back their forwards & I double don't think we can beat them in the air, they decimated us last time through the air, I don't think diffusing bombs needed any time together to gel or cohesion. They are simply to big all over the field & they will continue dominating us until our players learn how to jump & catch

Anyone can beat anyone. I have said all year what an awesome pack they have. Any team that wins at brooky is pretty good

But we can beat these guys. We will make the semis and I guarantee no one will want to play us

All teams in the competition are beatable. Against Souths you just need a hell of a lot of second phase play, kick away from inglis and let our outside backs run all over theirs.

I can't agree on tonights performance. Souths played good footy for 10 minutes and scored 18 points. The rest of the time they were pedestrian. They are very beatable in my opinion. A good side would have made them pay for their dropped ball in the first half. Broncos won't even make the 8.

We will be a totally different team when we play them next.

Have u seen the way we have been defending lately most of our tackles we put the ball handler on their backs to stop the quick play of the balls.

We have been getting quicker and quicker with our plays too esp in that bulldogs game where we simply ran them off the park. Mourts off the bench really provided that the edge when players are tired a lot like what wing used to do for us. Not to mention then scud missile we have with Jennings.

I think we have good ball catchers with RTS tupou and even SKD. If anything they should at least make it a contest I.e no easy tries like last time. But this does worry me a bit.

I believe we have better ball players with Maloney Pearce. And who can forget that all black inside centre we have in SWB.

What worries me the most is the forwards they dominated us in this area last game however it was our first game with a pretty much brand new team. JWH and MOA have been killing it for us lately they have been a devastating one two punch. Kennedy really needs to pick up his game though. Souths forwards are not invincible I actually believe that manlys forwards got the better exchanges in last week's game.

I truly believe we can win but we will need to be on our game.

They have a quality forward pack, a lock in a 5/8 jersey, an overrated halfback, a mistake ridden but great hooker, 1 good outside back and well Inglis, who is just Inglis. All you have to do is run out their big forward pack with hard straight runs with offloads (provided by JWH and SBW), and then let our backs do their magic. They are well coached but they lack talent on their fringes (barring merritt) and our fringes/backline is where we excel. Of course it's easier said than done, but they're beatable.
Having an expensive backline is overrated imo. Nowadays, when set plays basically set up all the trys, all you need is a good solid finisher who doesnt eff up. And Reynolds is very talented. If you're talking about "overrated halfback" look no further than our own

                And no-one will accept.

                2 things.

                1. Pearce is more likely to lose us a grand final than win it. If there are grand final pants to poop in, he'll poop in them. He could not organise a rub and tug party with Craig Thomson and Anthony Albanese helping him out.

He can, however, tackle well and has a good turn of speed. He would make an excellent centre. But I might as well be writing in Sanskrit with the Pearce adulation that persists around here.

                2. Inglis is playing injured. His hip is being kept mobile by Dank style painkilling injections. The man's leg looks like a pin cushion.

You don't honestly believe this do you? Coaches have become so aware of set plays that unless they're perfected at high speed more often than not teams will shut them down. Melbourne are the only team in the competition I can think of who are so well drilled that they could pull off enough set plays to win them a game.

The teams with the most attacking success these days usually rely on individual brilliance & creativity. The only set play we run with is 2 decoy runners side by side targeting either just outside the left or right upright and a second receiver wrapping around the back. More often than not we either hit the second decoy or use the two decoys as blockers and play out the back. I would hardly say our point scoring ability rests on the ability to execute set plays and we've been one of the more dominant attacking sides in the opening 7 rounds.

                  It's not 2008 anymore.

There not un-beatable but definitely playing some good football.
Enjoying the rub of the green when it comes to 50/50 calls for sure. Last week with the no try to Symmonds and the try they awarded Sutton was a 12 point turn around then last night they got a few more too.
I didn't see the bronco player kick the ball out of Clarkes hand. I saw him stick his foot out and Clarke put the ball on it. That's not a kick is it? Then late in the match, I thought Gillette should have been awarded that try. If he doesn't bump into his own player he strolls over untouched but Luke runs into him and the get the obstruction penalty. Very confusing.
They will be there abouts come finals but anything can happen on the day. It's a long season and I doubt they will be able to keep that form up for the next 20 odd weeks. We are still improving as a team too

We had them for the first 20 mins of round one. We are a diff team know and should be able to sustain an 80 min performance against them.

                        Not at their level....yet.
The good news is we are improving all the time, so who knows.
And.......we have TRobbo. The real deal.

It is still early days and only round 8 this weekend. Yes they are probably the team to beat atm. However we have more improvement in us than any of the other contenders. Our gameplan that Robbo is devising is a departure from the vanilla second man setplays that most other teams employ. Lastly don't underestimate the SBW factor...in the big games at the end of the season.

But that's what is scary about Souths, they made 11 errors in first half and played woeful but still defended well to be behind by 4, than came out in second half and pushed the button. They did the same against Manly in second half, they put on 20 points in 12 minutes. Souths can be beat but it won't be through the middle of the ruck, that's their strength, they want you to challenge them up front and get into an arm wrestle. To beat them you must play adlib, go wide early, short passing at the line, a lot of second phase and dummy half running with long deep kicks over the deadball line forcing 20m restarts. This would be my gameplan however it's easy in theory, but to action this, a team must not make errors, because a drop ball will ensure South possession with field position and hand them 6 points, unfortunately, the best teams will make you pay with every drop ball or penalty.

All Dumb jokes aside TDK has it spot on.
It isn't Inglis, it isn't Reynolds it isn't that Sutton is almost playing like a NSW Cup player its the team defense.
Without this superb defense that $ouff$ are running they would not be alot. Actually both structurally as a team and individually the defense looks like they have 20 players on the field.

We can and will beat south sydney.Easts have the strike power out wide to really cause souths some problems. As for thier pack we have a few good players of our own like the best wide running forward in the world and apparently the best young player in the nrl throw in angry bird and moa as well and we have a pack that will match souths.Size dosnt matter that much,we have a prety big forward pack ourselves skill, toughness and wanting to win matter more. And i see a lot of that in our pack.
