  • Thought we were poor today

A little worrying given we were also underwhelming against Canberra.

Hopefully doesn't carry into the next 3 games because Manly, Nth Qld & Melbourne wont be as forgiving.

    Am I being too harsh?

I too thought we were poor at times, but 30-6 kinda erases my doubt.

Very much so...we could have easily dropped our guard and intensity but to come away with another big win speaks volumes.

I don't think you're being too harsh R_6, as I thought the Roosters weren't as dominant as the scoreline suggests. The panthers turned up to play, the Roosters took a while to get going and taken together the game was put beyond doubt later than it should have been under the current circumstances. To be clear, I'm happy with the win yet as in years past, if there are things that aren't ideal, a win doesn't paper over them in my eyes.

I didn't get to see the game and only listened to the first 1/2 of the final half. But the play by play comments and stats show that a few more errors than is expected errors occurred and our completion rate was average by the end of the game. It appears our offloads saved the day and we can still apply yet resist pressure... just not consistently.

            Bit harsh

Panthers played well above their weight today

Gould would have really revved them up for this one, if it was an ugly win then so be it

But our lads found a way & gave back with interest & is a step up from last season

Canberra aren't that bad. They beat Melbourne didn't they, and us?

The positive is after the Roosters lost to the Raiders they beat the Bulldogs 38 - 0.

I'm not sure how many points people want the Roosters to win by. Although the Panthers thrashed the Eels , the Eels only lost by 4 to the Cowboys. Take a line through that form I'd take 30 - 6 any day.

I might add that at the game watching Sonny get angry & show passion was gold

His up the middle through four defenders & scoring with three still holding on turned it for me

The only criticism I have of today is that our sixth tackle kicks lacked variety. Their fullback never looked like dropping one. I know we got a try, late, from a kick, but most of them were easily contained. A few offensive grubbers might have made their young fullback a little more uncomfortable.

But it was another superb win. The defence, late, when the game was won, was just as enthusiastic as when it was on the line.

Our D was very good even though Penrith did not throw much at us. We won but did not play well that is a good sign. We can't be att our best every week.

I saw 30 minutes of the 1st half only & wasn't to convinced but when Melbourne have just won this year a couple of times most of the experts say things like "they were still able to win even though they didn't play well which shows the signs of a good team".

Souths & Canberra are both in my 8 & are both top sides so are Melbourne, Nth Old & Manly, I think the Roosters need to be on their game against who you mentioned but win or lose it will be the way they do it that I'll be looking at.

I really believe the Roosters can beat Manly but Im not sure on the other 2. The Chooks have beaten no one in the 8 yet unless the Dragons beat Manly & Im not sure if the Broncos are in the 8 so it is way to early to have the Roosters on the top shelf with the other 4.

But from an outsiders view the team is in so much better head space this year all due to the coaching change & they are playing good footy. They will make the 8 from there who knows?

Bumped into Andrew.W after the game and I commented that we were scratchy.

He made a good point though...that if that shoreline was achieved last year, we'd be over the moon...we've come a long way to be "disappointed" with that score.

We'll lift our game next week.

                              I agree.

I actually think we were lucky. SBW's try was a double movement. And please, I re-assure you im not a Souffs fan trolling.

During the first half we were quite poor. Side to side BS. No strategy all we did was bomb.

Then during the second half Robbo would've addressed the issue and in the second half you could see we were going up through the middle a bit more and our yardage had improved alot.

This game is important as we have 3 hard games up next and we needed to sort out BS like side-to-side plays etc and poor kicking game as we would be slaughtered by Storm and Manly whilst Cowboys would've had a field day.

I thought it was a good performance not a GREAT performance.
