  • Samisoni Langi

This guy is on fire..... Been watching him a fair bit lately and he is really going into his own. He looks ready for FG, and showed he was not out of depth in the Tonga-Samoa game as well.

The big question I have is, where will we fit him in ?? Pearce and Maloney look set to be in the halves for awhile yet. We have plenty of 2RF's and locks as well.

I hope we can find a spot for him because I really think he deserves it, he shows it in U20s, showed it in the trials in FG and showed it in the test match. The last thing I would want is to lose him.

I know we just re-signed Mortimer and am all for it coz Morts has been going well, but maybe give Langi a shot at that utility role just to give Morts a rest?? Just a personal opinion. He seems to always take the game head on when he is on the field.

Its going to be interesting to see how we keep players like Langi, Tasi, Tago, and many more I cant think of right now happy because all these players are going to start wanting to play FG and would make any other FG team.

I think he will be our long term lock. Too good for under 20's.

Definitely going to be hard to work out where to fit him in. Personally I think he'll be in the backrow somewhere, and as such he needs more games against adults before coming into first grade.

Let him dominate the 20s for the rest of the year then give him some time in the bluebags to start next season and see where he goes. He'll also get some additional experience at the world cup this year so that will be a plus.

Another club will offer him big money and we'll lose him is what I see happening tbh.

            Agree with this.

No need to rush him. As long as he is getting a taste of FG and a development path to a permanent spot, he should stick around. When young blokes can't even see a way into FG is when it becomes big problem.

He seems to have a lot of time when he has the ball in 20s. This is always a good sign. However the intensity just isn't there in 20s, so it is always so hard to tell how this will translate again the big boys.

I can not see how we will keep him. He will be courted by another first grade team who are low on halves options and leave. To play Langi at lock would be a severe waste of talent as that position is no longer the role it was.

I suggest they give him a run if Maloney gets picked at origin.

I know that they, the club and coaches, value him very highly. I'm pretty sure, but not certain, that he's signed up for a couple more years.

He will play first grade during the Origin period. What position, and how many minutes and so on, will depend on whether or not Maloney makes the NSW team.

I've been told though that he'll have to be in the 17 next year, he's that good.

Near the end of the 20's game against the Panthers he made a run where he basically showed off all his skills. I swear in the space of about 30 metres he beat about eight defenders. First he stepped a few, he's got great footwork, then used his strength to throw a few would be defenders off him, and then ran straight at the fullback, bumped him off, then offloaded the ball as a few other defenders hung off him (not sure if that adds up to eight or not but either way it was an impressive bit of play)

I don't like to hype young players up too much but from what i've seen I think Soni is a really good one. Oh, and not only can he play in the halves, centres and backrow, but he also kicks goals.

He's only been with us for about 10 minutes, and already we're stressing about him p!ssing off?

He's a good prospect at this stage, but he's hardly a proven performer. If he's good enough, he'll get his chance. He only has to look at Cordner, Moga, Sheck, Liu etc to see that we have a good recent history of promoting good talent.

I dont think the money to keep him will be the issue - we have SKD on a decent contract who if he doesnt improve drastically, could be replaced by someone like young meehan, milne or moga. Then you have mini retiring which will free up a good portion of coin and SBW probably only has 1 more year in him. There will be room. He is that good and if we want him, we will keep him

Like everyone else I have watched him play in the 20's and the test match and been very impressed.

I don't know if he will make it in the forwards in first grade, he isn't the biggest bloke.

Also if he keeps improving another club will give him a shot in the halves which I think he would probably prefer.
