Hayne will play fb then they will choose a new winger. Why would you even think of Carney at No.1? You need a specialist fullback, not someone who will only be able to attack and be useless in everything else. (bomb-catching, diffusing, positioning etc.)
Hayne will be fullback, Merritt should be winger but I suspect that Melanin rules. Or lack thereof.
Been thinking along these lines as well, John.
My only concern is Hayne has been known to go missing in the big one....a bit gun shy, so to speak.
Merritt....yes.

I haven't noticed that. He actually plays well in big origin games. He almost won us the series last year when he caught that Carney chip to the wing inside our own 20. He got tackled and injured as soon as he caught it though by Boyd. If he got away from Boyd we would've won. Can't see anyone catching Hayne especially when he's running for the series win.
Against
1.Slater ( I can't see Inglis taking it)
2.Boyd
3.Inglis
4.Hodges
5.Tate (He should be there_
Slater vs Hayne-Slater
Boyd vs Merrit- Merrit (He may not react well to big stage though)
Inglis vs Ferguson/Morris- Inglis
Hodges vs Jennings- Jennings
Tate vs Morris- If Tate plays like he did last year, Tate. If not Morris.
