No disrespect intended, but I have very little interest left in SOO.
The Inglis "try" in game 2 last year where he knocked on but was ruled to have not played at the ball was a summary demonstration that refereeing officials can come up with ANY call that suits them or their employers, and whatever their financial or personal interests are.
Apparently our halves Pearce and Maloney are to be selected for NSW - for what reason I don't know. Tonight's game against the Melbourne cheats demonstrated their biggest weakness - although big-hearted, they could not, even once, force a drop out for a repeat set of 6. They have other skills, but accurate bombs or grubbers into the in goal are not in their repertoire. As part of a team, the Sydney Roosters, who habitually receive the least penalties from the referees of all the NRL clubs, and have done so for 10 years, the only way to mount sufficient pressure to come out on the right end of the scoreboard is to force repeat sets. This part of the game is within their control. If they can't capitalise on the ability to force repeat sets they simply can't compete, particularly as, for reasons we cannot and will never understand, we will continue to fail to receive an even share of penalties to give us possession necessary to win matches; plus we will continue to endure inexplicable calls to destroy our momentum, such as the "forward" pass from SBW to SKD, and the "no knock on" call against Slater.
