Stanley Waqa has been improving since coming into first grade and Hauraki is average, but plays with a lot of heart and that's admirable. Although, is he contracted with us next season?
Last time i heard his contracts expired end of this yr? (Hauraki)

Hauraki, Moujalli and Deeb all played for the Roosters but are signed to Newtown Jets. Playing them in first grade ate into our second-tier cap.

i hope youre right Red. Some times I feel excited and relieved, then i get this aweful feeling that we will win a hatrick of spoons.
If we do as well under Smith as we did under Murray - 2nd and 6th, I'll be happy after the disaster of this year.

Has Brian Smith ever 'won'? a wooden spoon in his coaching career.

Well coached teams don't normally take the spoon. The one thing we can be assured of with Smith is that our team will be well coached.

Sounds like a dodgy law firm.

The debut of Deeb is the only positive from this season of woe.

Hahaha, a dodgy law firm run by my two Lebanese uncles, and their Maori friend!

Haha nah, but you are right. Deeb played well on his debut. His tackles really stung, and over the past two seasons for the Jets, Deeb and Moujalli have been outstanding.

Unfortuantely I can also admit I got that wrong and Anderson proved to be the start of us going back to 1991 - recruitment aside. That was all Nick.

Does anyone get the feeling Smith is another Anderson?

Whilst I understand Smith being heavily involved in the game unlike Anderson who was away from the NRL for some time, if the rumours are true and he is going after Ryles and King, the we are in deep doo doo.

I cannot believe Ryles will offer anything. He is way past his peak. At his peak he was carried by a formidable Saints forward back anyway.

King - had 2 great seasons - then deflated.

Old heads yes. And thats what we probably need given we have the youngest roster in the league.

Smith is a funny beast. He is either going to complete the transformation into the transit lounge that Nick Politis and his cohorts started, or he will somehow work an absolute 1000/1 miracle with acquisitions like Ryles and King.

Are we officially into our next decade of Transit Lounge?

There is no way we can sign both Ryles and king, we only had 55,000 left before signing Graham. So unless Sa is on 500,000 i can't see it happening. But if we are getting rid of mason....

Ryles is ok, a good worker and without fitzy we will need workers to take up the slack. At least Ryles can play the ball correctly unlike Soliola.

Nope...not this time. And when are you going to start actually putting your nuts on the line instead of playing Mr Hindsight? Go on make a call in advance, if you can.

You obviously missed his play the ball against us a number of years ago at the SFS. It was comical.

Back in the day when Anderson was a decent coach, they were similar, both innovative and setting std thats alot of people followed.
While Smith hasn't been the innovator for a while now, he is streets ahead of where Anderson was when he joined us

innovation is overrated. The best coaches in the league have their sides playing methodical, disciplined and almost robotic footy. Bellamy and Bennett in particular is about as creative as a door knob. Bennett coached sides are well disciplined and are always looking to win the arm wrestle relying on pieces of brilliance from outside backs to get them over the line (at brisbane it was locky, hunt, hodges etc - you dont need many complex and 'innovative' set plays with these guys in your side).

As long as by saying smith and anderson are similar you arent suggesting smith is going to try and innovate like anderson and throw in a state of the art one marker system. We need to play disciplined footy off the back of good defence and let the likes of pearce, carney, mini, graham and perrett in particular worry about getting the ball over the stripe.

Do not under estimate the Broncos over the last 10 years, Bennett introduced many things into the game.

2002 the Roosters were innovative in their defense and they were methodical.
I am not talking about flair, sometimes its just a different way of looking at things
