Oldfield is a huge waste of space

How so. He is a reserve grader through and through who is at the club as back up so how does that make him a waste of space?
Is doing what we brought him to the club to do. He has filled in when Toups was injured and had a decent game. Did you really think he was coming to the club to be anything other then a back up?

I don't get why people on here don't rate Oldfield.

He's lightning fast, hasn't got as many fumbles in him as SKD, and knows how to find a try line. I haven't seen too much of him defending but hey we're comparing him to shirt puller, so how much worse could it be. Even if we went with something like :

3.Jenko
4.RTS
5.Tupou

It would still be an improvement on what we currently have.

I would say oldfield playing for Newtown in the centers was by design . iIwill say while we are in a reasonable position on the table that coaching staff are doing the best in prep for Oldfield ,Napa and Evans.
Our history showed in the ricky stuart years we had up coming guys that one were not ever prpared for fist grade and two never gota go or a taste anyway were just thrown into the fire eg. Pearce , soward , shillow.
As supporters we want them all in ....the Staff are showing patience and restraint in rushing these guys .I can live with that.

I watched Newtown yesterday i was impressed by Oldfields runs very much like jenko but the most impressive was Hanre wells try ...backed up an off load into a gap broke a tackle and the swerved and beat another to run 50m to score ...it was worth seeing.

Yeah Brain that was a beautiful try. He's a pretty clever supporter player Wells and he got to show how much pace he has when he skirted around the fullback so easily. That and the Rokolati try where he leaped over the opposition wingers shoulder AFL style deep in the in-goal, they were bottlers.

For those interested in how Morts went, I honestly think he will struggle a bit against the Dogs when he has to step up into the 7. He started the game well and its obvious his skills have improved. He now has a beautiful long pass and a much bigger boot than when he was last in the halves. Broke a few tackles and his defence was solid as always. But his direction and decisiveness late in the tackle count is still a big concern. That may be a product of playing with different blokes but its always been in his game. Also, interesting that he was playing a bit more second receiver than halfback yesterday. But I don't see a problem with that happening in first grade because Samisoni Langi is certainly capable of the first receiver role and imo makes his best runs when he steps back into the ruck from first receiver and goes through tired forwards. I think our forwards will have to fire against the Dogs because to score points we'll need plenty of field position. Yesterday the Jets had all the field position and still struggled to put the Dogs away.

And on Oldfield, his biggest problem will always be his defence. Most of the Dogs breaks and two of their 3 tries were scored down his side. He wasn't helped by the fact he had Rokolati outside and Jacks inside of him but he just isn't at FG level defensively. He's got a very good step and scored a try yesterday which showed just how quick he is but I'm not sure its enough. But he will no doubt be picked for the Dogs game. He's been playing left centre for some weeks now and it's obvious that Robbo is hoping he can make the straight swap. At least he'll be next to two good defensive players in Aubusson and Langi. But no doubt he'll get targetted.

Spoke to officials back at club after the storm game moga is 6 weeks away then will play for new town so i can't see him making first grade if were near the top after round 18
