I think Braith has thier respect, and Jr Jr needs to learn to speak so that his team would understand what he was saying before he could be given the position of captain.....I am not sure caveman grunts totally explain what he wants......

Yeah he speaks like a lot of surfie bums you can meet down at Bondi. Also him and Carney are 20 & 23 respectively... they're good, but Anasta's going to be one of their mentors I would guess. They're not going to be leading him around the park, he's too experienced to put up with that kind of garbage...
Think of it as a working environment... you don't generally put some 20 year old in charge of everybody... Mason, Anasta, Mini, Myles, Graham...etc wouldn't put up with being told that their new boss will be Pearce or Carney. Sure age isn't something you can discriminate on, but between them they've got far less club/rep experience than any of the more experienced players who TBH probably have mentor roles, and will be assigned with the job of helping out Pearce and Carney.
Carney in particular as he's going to be on a VERY tight contract... I'm pretty sure that part of the deal is that he's going to have to have good people around him, and the club will be in shit if they don't support him... telling him he's gotta be the leader would be EXACTLY what the NRL would say no to I think. That's why the contract has taken so long... it's been clear for ages that he wants to sign, and we want him. The NRL's then said:
- Give us a reason why we can trust Carney, he's ****ed us over big time!
- Show me your plan for looking after him (rules, mentors, education, training, social services, regular checkpoints...etc)
Captain's a role you give to a guy who's stable, experienced and playing good footy. Not somebody who's unstable and inexperienced but capable of playing quality football.

Parramatta did with Cayless and he carried it of very well in his first season as Captain and then was made captain of his country and if my guess is correct that was under our new coach

'sif you wouldn't make the captain of NZ the captain of your club...
Agreed, Perrett would strongly be considered for captain.
Just as a side point, was it o'Meley who had the captaincy when Fitz and Anasta were out?

At a football club, there’s a holy trinity – the players, the manager and the supporters. Directors don’t come into it. They are only there to sign the cheques.

Sorry you are right there Sirgamble, it was mini that was the capt. when fitz and Anasta were out.
Still think Perrett should be considered.

I think that Braith has run his race as captain, maybe Pearce should take on the roll as everyone loves his dad & maybe Junior might have better luck than zoolander.Something has to change that farker Finch is is still giving it to us.........See his son arguing with the refs last nite & they farking took his shit.Makes you wonder.
I think it's hard to choose champions out of a bunch of wooden spooners who completely screwed up the 2009 season. We won what... 5 games this season out of 24... it's hard to pick an obvious leader when the team has had a distinct lack of leadership and discipline.
My guess is that during the off-season we're going to grow together, and somebody will come out as a leader. We'll experiment a bit, but once we start putting a few wins on the board, somebody will come good. No idea who... have to wait until next season.
Anasta always gives his all, which is more than you can say for all but about 3 of our players this year.
He is never in the papers for being a dickhead on the drink...ffs he got belted a few weeks ago and just left.
He's a senior player in the side.
He is the incumbent captain, and in an ideal position (5/8th or lock) to lead the team, which is why I would give it to him above Perrett, who the above also applies to.
