SYDNEY ROOSTERS
WHERE THEY FINISHED: 16th
WHAT WENT WRONG: Everything. New coach Brian Smith will have his work cut out rebuilding the club after a disastrous season in which the Roosters were more trouble for the police than the opposition.
WORST LOSS: The Roosters should have known they were in for a long season when their old enemy Souths blew them off the park (52-12) in round one.
BEST WIN: Upsetting Brian Smith's Knights 30-18 in Newcastle in round 21 made coach Brad Fittler's day. A fortnight earlier, Fittler (pictured) had been sacked to make way for Smith next season.
WHO AIMED UP: Departing warhorse Craig Fitzgibbon and captain Braith Anasta (until his season-ending broken ankle in round 15) can hold their heads high.
WHO DIDN'T: The boofheads who dragged the club's name through the mud.
WHO'S COMING: Todd Carney (Atherton - subject to NRL clearance), Phil Graham (Canberra), Jared Waerea-Hargreaves (Manly), J.P. du Plessis (South African rugby), Daniel Conn (Gold Coast).
WHO'S GOING: Craig Fitzgibbon (Hull), Iosia Soliola (St Helens), Mark O'Meley (Hull), Jordan Tansey (Hull), Shane Shackleton (Parramatta), Riley Brown (uncontracted).
PHIL GOULD'S VERDICT: Disgraceful. An embarrassing series of off-field incidents brought great discredit upon the club. On-field efforts suggested some players didn't even try. I feel for those who did play with passion.
