If he was on it, he would be on it backwards.

ahhhh my old man always goes on about Mark Harris skills and the boot on him , he was a bit before my time unfortunately . Did he not play in the nfl later in his career ?

We were consistently letting in 30 points and the dogs put 60 on us. Our defence stunk partly because of old mate.

We were lucky that Carney caught fire and Pearce followed.

That was a mediocre season which was ended With A golden run.

He trialled with the Philly Eagles after about a season with us after he came from PNG - no luck at the Eagles but was a kicker for the Montreal Allouttes - he returned after about a year I think. He was a top centre as too was his centre partner John Brass a dual international. Brass was class and Aubo though not in his class is still close to being a complete footballer yet without Brass' hands and speed. Amazing duo were Brass and Harris - am probably same vintage as your dad haha and born and bred easts fan

Harris was teh first versionof Mal Meninga with more speed.I told Harris when I was about 16 how god he was too watch -his reply was its too easy when all he had to do was run off Artie .He had his fatory/office across teh road from my dads shop in Crows nest ,I did some part time work with him and got to know all the players through him.Top bloke.
Once I remember he got to Capatain East agains t Parra at the old Cumberland oval .Off the kick off Parra kicked out on the full and Easts got a penalty Harris decides to have a shot at Goal him self from half way .He kicked the ball completely out of the stadium ,one flag went up and one down by the touchies -the ref didnt give it ,replays showed he got it.

That's simply not true though, our defence was poor to start the season but in the back half of the season it was ranked 2nd in points against.

I'm not getting into the SKD debate but that's just not true what you're saying.

Round 19 and 20 we leaked over 30 points.

If you take the whole season into account, we were mediocre. I dont see how you're trying to argue the original statement.

Bit off topic but special mention has to go Mark Harris for one of the most impressive broken noses in history.

You get the feeling he could re-establish himself at Newtown, or at another club.

A change of situation sometimes does players a lot of good.

To be honest, though, he did had a couple of decent games earlier in the season where he carted the ball up straight and played very well defensively...

I like the idea of shifting him to the wing and playing Sheck in the centres.

Putting Maubs in the centres does nothing for me.

If an entire team was to put in big efforts for a whole season but not get any wins, it wouldn't be very good.

Effort is one thing - skill, ability and execution is what gets results.

There are some real clever people on here.
Winning, coming 3rd, have not peaked or played to our full potential, coming off a tough month of pretty much defending for near enough to 65% in every game(haven't looked at the stats just an assumption) coming off the bye and we have seen just about everyone in the team dropped or shifted out of position and even questioned the coach. F**k I love this place

I use the analogy of Alex Rodriguez. In his early career, his skill, ability and the execution of that skill and ability made him a champion. Now the effort to execute that skill and ability (combined with injury) is getting beyond him.

And we leaked 24 points against the wooden spooners on Friday night, does that make our defence poor also? Teams have off games, it's called an anomaly.

Like I said in the back half of the season our defence was the second best in the comp, your statement that our defence 'stunk' is only partly right and it's limited to the first half of the season.

He needs to be taught how to tackle, using the full force of his body, not just his arms and hands. Please Robbo and Fitzgibbon teach him some tacking techniques and do it quickly, before he loses us a game. SKD, How about you taking some responsibility for your lack of defence. Get help and soon.
                                What will Moga do???

He struggled in defence himself last season in his few games and he's been injured since day 1 of preseason training, he can't possibly have learnt defence and attitude sitting in a moon boot on the sidelines.

I'm not defending The Doufus in any way. I'm just amazed what people could expect Moga to do???

I'm sure MK is responsible anyways.
