  • Go Warriors! Top 4 looking good.

Not next week, but great win today which helps put a gap between the top 3 and the rest.

Top 4 is absolutely crucial. It doesn't really matter where we finish in there as the refs rape us both away and home; but I don't believe you can win the comp outside of the top 4.

And now Manly face the Dogs next week who are charging towards the top 4 like a freight train thanks to a beautiful Origin run - facing both us and the Storm in Origin weeks and NQ last night without JT.

If we win next week then we can put some tremendous distance between us and the chasing pack. We've got to beat the Warriors with the Dogs and, lets face it, a likely loss to follow.

I note that the Dogs are now at a shorter price than Manly in Premiership betting.

The Warriors can really throw the ball around. If they are on song they might beat us.

Yeah Warriors will be a tough game.

In fact we'll either win by 20-30 or lose 28-26.

I don't rate the Dogs. They're playing average football but have had a dream run of late which will continue through Origin. This will see them win about 9 of 10 through fortune more than skill.

But they could still nab a top 4 spot. I'd just rather they take it off Manly or the Storm rather than us.

I might have misheard but I think the commentators on Saturday said no team has one the comp from outside the top 4 since the NRL was formed (which was when?) Find it hard to believe but it's interesting if true.

FPN will fit in nicely with the team attitude down in NZ. The way they play their football is that either they are switched on, or they're totally off the grid.

Right now they look interested. Wait a few more weeks and they'll be non-existent.

It was formed in 1998 and it is indeed true.

And with the new finals system it's much harder than it used to be to win the comp outside the top 4. It's so important hence we can't let the foot off next week or we'll be staring down the barrel of consecutive losses.

They'll be flattened after the physical test Manly just gave them.

                That's what I'm telling myself, anyway ...

Unfortunately I do rate the Dogs. Personally I can't stand them mainly due to Ennis who I consider one of the biggest grubs in the NRL. Regardless we got them at a very good time in round 6; they were out of form, Barba was out of sorts, they had injuries and we were basically at full strength.

This time we have no Jennings, Pearce, Maloney, JWH and as much as I would have liked to have seen Langi debut, as well as playing alongside Mortimer this doesn't look like being the case now with the injury to Langi. Hopefully Moa comes back but he will be under done.

I think the Dogs only lose Morris for Origin but correct me if I'm wrong. But you're right, luck's a fortune and at present and for a few more weeks this will go the dogs way.

                      And probably Josh Reynolds.

If we're really lucky maybe Barba will be selected on the bench for QLD.

                        Canterbury were terrible last night.
Their defense against a Thursten less Cowboys was atrocious.

I'm afraid they will be riding high, they beat a tough Manly side after being behind by 12 points, I think they will be tough but certainly not unbeatable, it will depend on the men in the middle unfortunately.
