There was an article a couple seasons back stating that Burgess was only on some average sort of contract. Now we know thats all bull, but to justify to the public how Souffs weren't over the salary cap, they came out and said that Burgess was on around 300k per season ....so I think Ray is not far off with that figure.
Of course Sam's mother is on about 500K per season

If we were to sign a Burgess, I would sign Tom, he is the black sheep in the family, my mate knows him and reckons he doesn't necessarily follow his brothers and likes to be independent from them. I have two children and both me and my wife work in order to put food on the table. I can only imagine what she must have gone through to get her kids to where they are today.

Davos, you are a gentleman amongst the rabble on here. My mother raised me without my father as he died when I was young and I know a few good friends of mine who have been dealt a similar fate, and yet still manage to behave like gentlemen without a Dad for guidance. Mrs Burgess is a school teacher in gainful employment at Scots College for those of you wondering.

The Burgess boys seem like terrific young men as well as sensational footballers.

I suppose this is why we have Women in League Round. We all get great enjoyment out of watching these super talents every week. And its largely thanks to mother Burgess' resolve and devotion to get them where they are today.

I don't think anyone has anything against The Burgess fam. I don't think anyone's questioning their ability as footballers. And I haven't seen anyone bag Ms Burgess for her raising of her children.

The comments were made in relation to 300k salary for probably the best forward in the game today. And that the rest of his families moved here and presumably are all doing so for the love of Souffs, not financial reward.

Its making light of the obvious farce that Souffs have as a Salary Cap is the only intention. If Ms Burgess was Mr Burgess the joke would be the same.

Only speaking for myself it's not my intention to put Ms Burgess parenting skills down. Some of you really need a reality check. If I thought she was a bad parent I'd call her that.

Sam Burgess is actually off contract at the end of 2016 not 2014, he extended for 3 years during last season. Here is an article which states his reported current 4 year contract is for $262K per year on average.
