Everyone seems to be focusing on SKD's defence.

To make it a fair argument, apart from the lack of his defence ability, what has SKD got to offer the team and making him worth the marquee salary ($350K-$400K) that he is on?

    I'll start.........................

    Hmmmmmmmm................

    I've got nothing.

Trust PWN to hijack a thread and turn it into an argument about Pearce.

Yet he continually states there's no agenda

Thats the thing 6. Most don't think Pearce is a world beater, but stick up for him because he is part of the Roosters family. The agenda is cringe worthy. I suppose when you are stuck on a train day in day out, you need to direct your anger at someone.

I'd happily say that in atleast 60% of Maloneys missed tackles he at least takes something off the ball carrier. He puts his body on the line. He gets in their faces, forces errors, disrupts the play etc. Add to this he is doing his other jobs extremely well. That's why he is nowhere near deserving flack that SKD is getting.

I'd love to see SKD come good tbh. But he looks as interested and as comfortable on field as a souths fan outside his/her local dentist.

Indeed, he may miss it but he does contribute to stopping the ball runner, SKD's defence this year has usually been decent though, it was just last game where he was shit.

Let him play at Newtown until he gets the shits. He will eventually get the picture and want to leave.

However his defence never raises a mention on this forum.

                  Strange.
                  Hi Fleabag Fletch,

This is indeed strange as is the amount of people who are saying that 'if Remy Casty is good enough for Trent "Robbo" Robinson then he's good enough for me.'

Fans take particular liking to new players (especially that we have turned around a poor season previous to a good one) and comment on emotion. In two seasons time we will read about James "Jimmy" Maloney's defence being awful and how signing an French born English Super League prop forward is a sign of our inability to attract quality.

Take our own Martin "Marty" Kennedy for example: he has been quite strong in recent weeks with the Absence of Jared and Sam but still we have people demanding his sacking after he gained almost 200 metres last weekend.

It is strange because the logic behind both praising the new players too much and criticizing the old ones too much is born on emotion from the length of time they have been playing with us.

The interesting thing about Maloney and his defense is not so much his missed tackles, but there are crucial ones he isn't missing and a few of those having been try saving ones.

I got a huge shock when I saw how many metres MK made last week, I think he is soft (although better in that game) but he surprised me. The game itself was of very poor std though with both teams missing over 30 tackles. I think 20 of those must have been on MK to make that many yards ....

                      Hi Braiths Anastas Wallet,

Why didn't you write Remy "Nickname" Casty?

                      Yours sincerely Madrooster "Rooster" Mad.

P.S. I have $10 says Braith doesn't carry cash. He strikes me as a wave and go, or even an AMEX guy.

Well said mate, and BagofFleas too.

You could do a study on it, the sway of the fan, the new vs the old, the scapegoat headspace.

Whatever floats your boat I guess.

                        You know it makes sense.

I used to be a big SKD supporter but the patience is running thin. 2 Trys for SKD so far in 2013 and 1 of those was the gimme he got at the end of last week. At a time when we are leading most offensive categories ... it's hard to believe our centre ONLY has a couple of 4 pointers half way through the season ....

Are there any other centres in the comp that have played the majority of games this season in such an offensive funk like SKD??

I didn't know this: In 2010, SKD was runner up to Benji Marshall in Rugby League World Golden Boot award. Also named in team of the year. By far his most productive season, scored 20 trys that year and I think 4 against the Broncs the last time the Chooks got a game against the broncs at Suncorp.
