But yep BundyBear or Davatar surely must've been looked at on size and experience alone???

I guess we hope they have pulled the wrong rein for once.

He was injured, but he played last night, looked pretty good too, didn't see or hear anything about injury from last night??

Congrats to Martin. Even though its only as 18th man it's a great achievement.

There is no doubt he has much to work on but he is the first to admit it. Surprised one of our own isn't getting more appreciation / acknowledgement on here for the achievement, yet there are half a dozen threads wanting him dropped, back to Newtown or gone altogether.

Sydney Roosters prop forward Martin Kennedy has been selected as 18th man in the Queensland squad for Game 2 of State of Origin at Suncorp Stadium.

Coach Mal Meninga named his squad today, and whilst Kennedy wasn't chosen in the 17 that will take to the field the experience will prove invaluable and the big man will be on standby should anything happen to any of the boys in camp.

The call up came as a massive surprise to the Norths Ipswich Junior who has been forced to step up in recent weeks with both Sam Moa and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves sitting on the sidelines.

"I'm really happy and pumped to be in the squad," Kennedy said.

"It came as a massive surprise and I definitely didn't expect it but its an experience I can't wait for."

"I have no idea what to expect but I am just going to go in there with an open mind and be as enthusiastic as I can at training."

Kennedy will remain in Sydney with the Roosters and play in Friday night's blockbuster against the Bulldogs, before flying up north to join the Maroons squad.

This is the first time Kennedy has been selected in the Maroons squad, and despite the fact that he he will most likely be experiencing the game from bench, the front rower was keen to take in as much of the experience as he could.

"Obviously being 18th man will be a weird experience but it will be a massive event and a massive celebration of rugby league up there in my home state and I'm pumped to be a part of it," Kennedy said.

Really? You know that this place is for bagging people from behind a keyboard.

Can't believe QLD have gone with another bench of all second rowers.

I honestly gave us no chance up in QLD (and I still think they'll be too good) but with another poor team selection from Mal I reckon we're a chance of sneaking a win in Game 2 which would be huge because game 1 and 3 were always the targets.

I share your sentiments. I am yet to see a bloke get picked for SOO and come back a lesser player, especially blokes who are 18th man. Generally stokes the fire a bit.

Now please continue with the bagging....
