Sydney Roosters' Sonny Bill Williams will not play against his old club Canterbury tonight, says Triple M's Matty Johns.

The dual international is battling a glute injury, but Matty says there could be more to it.

"His people had said he won't play against the Bulldogs at ANZ Stadium because 'we don't want that club to make money on him'," he said.

"Now I'd like to think they're all over that but my mail is he won't play tonight."

He legitimately pulled his hamstring/glute at training and it was bad enough for me to be told by someone who first took a look at the injury that he will NOT be playing tonight.
