What it shows me is we have the best depth in the 1/2s of any club. We are very lucky in that regard.
The other day I was trying to think which other clubs have a utility player (coming off the bench) similar to Mortimer and I can't think of one. The Eels have Roberts, but he isn't FG material.

A picture of the alcoholic's father from back in 1971 at redfurn. You can see where he gets his good looks and bad habits from.
pic of phil rothfield's father in 1971.jpgThe year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!
Here's looking at you, kid.

The difference is that some of our fans can not identify that strategy and tactics that we play. People think that Pearce is kicking his bombs too long when they fall perfectly for the strategy of pinning our opposition deep inside their own half and letting us defense give us the upper hand. It is not rocket surgery.
His kicking game was not as well executed as Mitchell Pearce's kicking game and his defense led to the Ben Barba try. Mortimer regularly found Ben Barba or either winger on the full when kicking down field and on one particular instance in the second half where fullback and winger managed to find a 2 on 1 overlap on Daniel Tupou from a poor kick that was luckily knocked on by Tupou as his opposite number had found his way outside of him and would have been away had he not knocked the ball down. I also do not recall Daniel Mortimer gaining us a repeat set from quite a number of attacking sets inside of Canterbury's 20 metre line and he also missed 5 tackles on the night.
Daniel Mortimer had a very strong game but it was no more than what Mitchell Pearce brings more often than not however certain fans can not bring themselves to acknowledge Pearce's contribution despite praising Mortimer for doing the exact same thing that Pearce does every week.

All this from Morts after just 1 game at halves for us!
