While I'm not a huge fan of MK, he has shown some improvement. He may have 'the stats' showing he is 2nd in the tackle count, how many are of him being third man in and wrapping the legs up? Do you really consider that a tackle?
He may be racking up the meters too but I saw him take I think 2 kick off returns for probably around 20-30 meters in total and a drop out with about 20m return. There's close to 50m there. Facts are he struggles to bend the line still but there are no stats to show that now is there
Two hold the player up and the third man comes in low and knocks them down.
It slows the play the ball up and stops the offload.
It's how they are taught to tackle nowadays.
MK is our best defender in the forwards. Makes a lot and misses very few.
Considering we have based the year on defence he could be a bigger loss than many think.

No great loss with Kennedy out , actually i think the roster looks better especially with JWH back .I gtg with rooboy in that Kennedy stats are misleading at best .He has improved of course but still isnt the world beater some people were saying he was going to be .SOO material?lol

It's like getting a try assist because you ran a block play which led to the try. Sure you played a part in the try being scored but you don't get the credit for it

I seriously reckon the blokes performed as well as anyone else at the club this season, especially defensively which is what they've built the year on.
They can't all be superstars.

Regarldess of that though I don't buy your argument that he's just someone who flops on tackles and only makes metres from kick offs/drop outs. His form over the last month has been good and that's irrelevant of what stats he's putting up. He's making good metres after contact and his defence has always been good; good line speed, good technique and big motor.
The biggest issues I have with his game at the moment is he's prone lying to long in the ruck resulting in a penalty and he could probably do with adding and offload to his game or some ball playing before the line.

What I was impressed with was his work rate in defence. It is the highest in the team I believe considering he averages 40-45 mins a game???
Friendlys made 552 tackles, MLK 374 same as $BW, Maubs is 364 and Boyd is 358.
The rest are under 300 tackles a game.
And as I said he plays the least mins out of that lot.
His effectiveness is something like 96-97% that's great for a man his size.
He also averages 90 metres a game.
Someone has to do his work now especially in defence, as 6 has pointed out.
Especially since we've built the season on defence.
I'm convinced too many fans only look at attack and ignore defence when deciding who can play and who can't. But I'm sure stats will be blamed again, the coach will be wrong again, they will know better, MLK is a skirt wearer/wimp/penalty machine/stopper/low pain threshold/non rep deserving carnt who needs to be sacked immediately so their fav WheresReserveGradeWally can come in.

I don't know if we will be better without him, probably not as his coach seems to love him and he knows a heck more than I do. My concern with him is that jink he does a few metres before impact with the defensive line. He slows and imo is a big reason why he does not bend the line. I also think his attacking metres are very flattering . He ran back 3 dropouts one match and a couple on here couldn't rave enough about his metres.
If MK ran at the line as hard as JWH and Sam then I would be a big fan. Get rid of the jink. Particularly when running straight at the big guys.
No more jink.. no more jink.. . Sorry, got carried away.Embrace the Hate! JC
