He wasn't good enough then and he's not now. Our future is so much brighter that T Symonds

Glad that JWH is back. Kennedy is a bigger loss than one might expect. Luckily FPN has played his way back into form (probably playing for a contract though tbh) and JWH is back from suspension, otherwise our front row stocks would be looking really thin. We have now had three of our four main props (Moa and Kennedy through injury, JWH through suspension) plus one of our reserves (Napa through suspension) miss large chunks of footy. O'Donnell is like Conn in 2010 - playing hard, well above his weight, and adding a little bit of mongrel and aggression into our pack alongside JWH. It goes well with the 'softer' natures of Kennedy, FPN and Moa who all have their merits but aren't really firebrand players.

Our last successful pack in 2010:

          Hargreaves
          Friend
          Ryles
          Anasta
          Aubusson
          Myles

          Kouparitsas
          FPN
          Conn
          Kennedy

vs our full strength 2011 pack:

          Hargreaves
          Friend
          Moa
          SBW
          Aubusson
          Cordner

          Mortimer
          FPN
          O'Donnell
          Kennedy

I think when push comes to shove in finals, as consistent as Guerra has been, if we have everyone at full strength he would have to step aside for FPN. FPN is a big game player, whereas Guerra, without doing overly much this year, has reaped the benefit of consistent selection thanks to players being injured (like JWH, Moa, Kennedy) or players being drastically out of form (Tasi, FPN). But with all guns blazing, I don't see how he can hold his spot over the aforementioned pack.

Napa and Liu are outstanding finds worth persisting with. Evans is still a big question mark. Don't see Tasi staying beyond this year.

I think it's great that Robbo has kept LOD starting. He's been huge in JWH absence. Let LOD do the rough stuff like he loves, then let Moa come on and steam roll the defence!

What time has Napa lost through suspension, there was no charge for the Graham hit??

I love Sammy Moa but Luke O'Donnell has been going great guns the last few weeks... I was surprised when we signed him from Huddersfield and thought he would spend a fair bit of time in the NSW Cup as a back rower due to the level of competition he was facing. I think he has well and truly found his feet in the front row as he can forget about trying to be so dynamic. This suits his aggressive style of play. LOD may be getting on a bit now but value as a front rower... I firmly believe he has extended his use by date for another couple seasons. Good to see a bit more competition in the front row to rival the red hot competition in the back row.

Could the mind games be coming back?

It would be nice to see Moa to start at 10 and SBW given the 13 with permission to rove around the field and get involved whenever/wherever he wants to. I think he proved last week he can't just be stuck on the right side. The more involved he is, the better.

Also, Robbo mentioned in the press conference after the Bulldogs game that he wanted to play LOD on the left edge (where he's played during his whole career). So it will be interesting to see if he plays there, or remains in the middle to cover for MK.

Btw, how good is it to have JWH back in the team!

He only wanted to play him at left edge if Williams was ruled out and Cordner was moved to five eighth. With Aubusson at centre he had run out of second rowers so his plan was to play LOD there and bring Evans onto the bench (although NRL insisted it be Arona). I reckon we'd need that many unavailable to play second row again before he had to play there. Robbo stated that he'd played a lot of his career as an edge back rower, not his whole career. The last five-six tears he has been a middle forward at Nth Qld and at Huddesfield, and he has played in the middle all this season for us. He'd be a bit too slow now I'd reckon to play edge unless we were really desperate.
