  • GPS Tracking

I got a letter from Steve Noyce listing all the positive things that are happening at the club - new coach etc.

I suppose everyone got it. If not, let me know and I will try to scan it in.

Anyway, on there is," A new budget has been allocated to purchase much needed equipment e.g. GPS Tracking".

Anyone know what they need that for?

Maybe if the team bus gets lost on the way to Penrith.

    I noticed this also.....

I guess its easier that putting a tale on the players, but doesnt instill any sence of trust........

Unless its so they can find the try line.........

Modern day training methods... Enables you to track plays, running patterns and work rates by players during training and games.. The AFL have been using it for years and some NRL teams have been using more recently as well.

Doesn't it have something to do with the coaching staff monitoring the distances covered during a game/training session?

It's equipment that they use to track a players movements during the game ie distance covered, their positioning on the field during various stages of the game, average speed etc

To my knowledge most clubs use them, i can't believe we never had them, very useful tools to identify players strengths and weaknesses.

Maybe they can wear it out so the club will know when they are about to get into trouble and intercept....

They have been around for some time now

The fact that we have not had them at our disposal probably explains why we were so far behind the rest fitness wise

I was thinking the same thing - make the players wear them 24/7 and see whether our off field behavour improves. The cost of a bloke to monitor them 24/7 would be money well spent.

I reckon our blokes currently exert more energy away from footy than playing and training. Here's the perfect chance to prove it.

I was reading an article on the weekend I think about how Manly, Wests Tigers, Canberra and us are all involved in DNA testing to improve performance. I don't know how true this is but clubs these days will do just about anything to improve performances as results equal success and success equals money.

It's to check how many metres are made whilest holding the ball. Perrets GPS is the only one in the club that has a three digit display.

SKD made more metres running out of the line in defence, than when holding the ball, and Soliola's read -10

Not necessarily, the NRL announced on the eve of the competition starting that clubs were allowed to use them in games. They had previously only allowed them in training, but changed their minds literally at the last minute. It was like the Thursday before the comp kicked off.

The Roosters may have chosen not to use them as they didn't have time to deploy.

The Dogs have been using them for training only but not in games. They will be be using them in games as well next season.

They not only track workrates but also "positional habits" particularly during critical moments of a game.

I wonder how long before the output from the devices start appearing in the media stats and how long before someone "hacks" into a device to steal or even distort information.

Exactly what i was thinking, WTF have our coaching staff been doing for the last few years.

Other clubs have been exploring overseas for the latest training technology i.e Tgers, Manly, Souths.

What have we been doing ? Running on treadmills !!

Anyways about ****ing time our outdated fitness staff have gotten the boot. We may see a Roosters pack actully last 80min
