Dare I hope that the season from hell will have a silver lining with the departure of Willie Wanka.

Come on Smithy, get that broom and sweep him out the door pronto. Make sure he takes his wooden spoon with him.

Getting rid of both Fittler and Mason would be one of few bonuses of this season.

Personally, I would have preferred to see Mason go, and Fitzgibbon to stay. That way, Cherrington/Masoe could have an experienced and honest influence in the backrow with them.

Cherro has a worse attitude than any other player at the club, brilliant but very lazy and he thinks he is a gamgster.

Attitudes is what we need to change before anything else

Definitely. But Mason is a bad influence on kids like Cherro.

I would love to see him flourish under Smith - without Mason there.

Cherro arguably has more potential than Tupou OR Mason. He is Mason's size, as mobile as Tupou, and seems to have this amazing ability to stand in tackles - even when there is three or four players tackling him, he stands and looks for the offload. Needs to pick up his workrate and toughen up a bit though.

Masoe is a bit raw. Give him time.

Rcptn was asking about 2008, not 2009. And apart from about 3 games in 2008, the Wanka didn't play to his ability. Nowhere near it.

No supporter would have real complaints about the team performances in the first half of 08, it was the back half and the finals where the rot started to set in.

Most supporters (even I) gave Willie Wanka some concession this year due to his knee injury, which is probably why Rcptn asked about 2008.

I think Willie was as good as any, and as bad as any in 2008. Pre-origin he was playing well, especially given the turmultuous off season the guy had. Barely played any footy at the back end of 2007 due to a wrist injury, then spent his entire off season fighting the Bulldogs. I know they're all meant to be professionals, but the guy is only human. There is no way all the rubbish would'nt have affected him mentally-and lets be honest, Willie is a player whose form is often based on mental attitude. He admitted he was down and struggling, and then the guy gets knocked by massive injury. The guy comes out and acknowledges his downfalls and is honest with his mental anguish about it, and still some expect him to be at his 2005 form. Well the only idiots are these people and the idiots that paid him accordingly.

The only reason i'd be happy to see the back of mase is because we already have too many backrowers at the club. I don't buy all these rumours, they are just a smoke screen for what's really wrong at the club.

This is completely different from what i am hearing from a very good source who is close to BS from his days at Parramatta. BS plans are for Willie to Co Captain the side with Anasta in 2010.
