I'm sick of people digging into pearce and blaming him for a shit performance in game 2 of state of origin, many groups on facebook that im connected to always criticize pearce for not being a superstar... if it wasn't for our halves i don't think chooks would be anywhere in the top 4 or even top 8, he has many doubters and they say he is living off his fathers name i call bullshit, PEARCEY TO LEAD THE TRI COLOURS AND BLUES TO GLORY!!!!

Sorry, but cant agree with you on this.

Pearce is a good club man, who has developed into a fine halfback for us. But at origin level, well, lets be honest here, he has failed and been found out. His inability to earn repeat sets, and his lack of try assists in origin, is nowhere near good enough. I hope he does get dropped next season, as he'll come back a better player for us, which is where he's important.

Mitchell has been deadman walking since Daley named him unchallenged for the Origin series. Daley nominated Pearce for the Origin job knowing if NSW was successful than his decision was vindicated but, if unsuccessful, Pearce would be the sacrificial lamb and he would have Reynolds to fall back on with a new start and new series. Pearce really was carrying the whole series on his shoulders, I believe this was premeditate and unfair, but that's origin.

Its easy to point the finger to the HB when the other 12 are not doing their job.

A team needs go forward to build momentum, get the defense on the back foot and give the HB enough time to orchestrate his kicks to perfection.

Souths are perfect at doing this which is due to the speed of Isaac Luke and what he brings to the team.

Mitchell Pearce has improved his kicking this year thanks to the fact we are getting that go forward, I think if the boys in blue can get on the front foot, pearcey stands further back and tamou and the boys up front provide some protection our kicking game will be very good for the decider.

I have changed my opinion about Pearce.His kicking game has improved this year he still has to improve his grubber kicks thru the line and his attacking kicking game is probably not there yet.But in every other facet of the game you couldn't ask for a better halfback.The kid is tough he is tackling better this year than any other season i can remember.He has a great passing game and his running game is pretty good as well.He will only get better playing behind this pack and inside baloney imo.

Don't agree with u at all. He does live off his dads name. If he was Mitchell Smith u may never of heard of him.
He is a decent fg halfback who is playing origin coz there are no other options. In fact of he had of kicked as poorly in game 1 and they lost, I think Adam Reynolds would have been brought in for game 2 & 3. Its only coz its game 3 and considered too late to make such a huge change, that Reynolds has not been brought in.

You are kidding yourself if you don't think this is Pearces last chance at origin. And on a club level I like the way he goes at the line and I love his heart in defence. But his short kicking game is diabolical.

He playing against the best team in the world -Thurston , Smith, Cronk, Slater , Ingles- These players, in the key positions have no peer. Its 1-1 this series, they lost the last by 1 point & the one before that was close too. So objectively, how can you say he's failed?
