He can't keep his gig in the Catalans side and some of you are looking at him as some sort of leader of our pack...clueless! Our pack is far far worse off with Ryles in it.

    Chook.
He averaged around 130 metres per game for Catalans
    He still goes okay
certainly better than anything we have up front

I think you will find those figures a little exagerated by the huge difference in quality of the better teams in that competition and the worst!!
      Spanner gone and never forgotten

      • Apart from Myles, Ryles is a lot better then anything else we got in the props. I will be very happy if it turns out to be true.

        • I was initially against ryles but even if he averages 110 mtrs a match and 20 tackles that is a much bigger work rate then any of our other blokes could dream of doing.

          • Yep, a prop who consistently averages over 100m a game is what we need to take the pressure off Myles (who is better used as a hard-tackling mongrel), Paea (should be a hit-up specialist) and Nuuausala (used as an offloading ballplayer).

Nutley did the job in 2007, O'Meley did it in 2008. We failed in 2009 because we had no prop who did this.

                  In the NRL in;

                  2008 he averaged 140 metres, 27 tackles
                  2007 he averaged 130 metres, 24 tackles
                  2006 he averaged 130 metres, 24 tackles

The guy is highly underrated and I can't wait for the day that it's announced that he has signed. He's the leader we have been crying out for.

Those stats would shit on anything our current props would produce.

Bar Myles it's all double digits. We had easily the worst go forward this season and it all starts from there.

Stats mean jack shit and you know it. or maybe you dont.

Ryles couldnt lead at teh Dragons. Actually he was teh one being easily led. i cannot support this signing by teh club if in fact they make it. its another monumental mistake. But you go on and "trust them". They are after all teh ones that deliovered the spoon to us with their stupidity. How can a bunch of powerful businessmen, with more money and experience than anything, keep making monumentally huge mistakes? Seriously....you know why? Desperation. You see, our little junior clubs dont mean anything. We dont build or create or breed talent, we think we can buy it. just like weve bought our way every other way.

Yeah, go on and keep "trusting them".

                        Ryles...big mistake .

the decision to sign ryles is made by the new coach - smith. he is entitled to get the players that he wants.

Stats mean a lot in Rugby League, that's a weak defence for something obviously couldn't argue against.

Whilst I agree with a lot of what you said about the juniors and our own development we need Ryles. We've got very poor depth in the front row and our quality compared to the rest of the comp is third rate. We'll be waiting another 3-4 years until we have a FG prop who we've developed ourselves... I'd like to think we can at least be competitive up until then

This is a Smith signing, not a board decision... Smith will be no push over when it comes to his team.

Sad thing is, we didn't have a forward who went into triple digits this year.

However you are right Myles wasn't far off and our best metre eater this year.
