Syd Eckstein is a legend and did an absolutely wonderful job getting Clovelly to its great heights. In the early to mid 2000s the crocs were one of the fastest growing sporting clubs in the country, they are still going strong. Steve Yeates is still involved and doing a great job with the u12s.
There are some great people running Bondi Utd, St Charles and Paddo. They are all striving for the best for the Roosters juniors.
While it would be great to have our own comp the priority is getting kids playing and playing at an appropriate level.

Turk I am not a sydney lad, but I get involved everynow and then helping at Clovelly.
Our friend backwards, well his vintage is extremely unique and furry
    That's him.
    Thanks to his uncle Billy.

Of course we shouldn't complain, I mean consider poor Newcastle: a small wealthy, upperclass city with virtually no league players, and a piddly junior territory from which to develop talent, spreading west and north virtually untouched for the rest of the state.

It beggars belief, the way others perceive the Roosters.

I remember some clown somewhere crapping-on about Cordner being pinched from under Newcastle's nose. Old Bar is like a 2 hour drive from Newcastle - laying claim to territory that distance would be akin to the Roosters claiming Canberra City.
i thought we did treat canberra as our junior base? Carney, jcarney, graham, soward, monahan, pongia, mullins, finch, barnhill, ricky stuart;-), cant think of anyone else at the moment.

It goes both ways: Don Furner, Scott Logan, Shillington, um... Sandor Earl.
Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

The Easts comp will never be the same.

I remember Waverley Oval having high quality games with big crowds.

The Easts comp was thriving. Not sure what happened but it died so quickly.

Most of my mates that still live in the area have their kids playing soccer or AFL. It is now also OK for kids to prefer music and art, which wasn't the case a generation ago.

                            That's just how it is.

                                You obviously missed my point.

Not sure about you but when I grew up you had to play sport to be accepted.
