  • Our Run Home

Just thought I would share my views on the next 8 weeks leading into the finals.

    So we have;
    1. Sharks (Home)
    2. Kinights (Away)
    3. Panthers (Away)
    4. Raiders (Home)
    5. Tigers (Home)
    6. Sharks (Away)
    7. Titans(Home)
    8. Vermin (Away)

Now not including the last round game before the finals against Souths, I personally think the only team that could give us a go are the Raiders in round 22. They seem to get one up over us every time we play are they are definitely side to watch out for on their day.

So if you do the maths, we SHOULD have 40 points going into the last round if that plays out they way I think.

    And on the flip side we have the Vermin's run home which includes;
    1. Dragons (Home)
    2. Titans (Away)
    3. Cowboys (Away)
    4. Storm (Away)
    5. Sea Eagles (Away - Bluetongue)
    6. Bulldogs (Home - ANZ)
    7. Tigers (Home - Allianz)
    8. Roosters (Home - ANZ)

Taking into account their Origin reps will all be back I can still see them losing to Storm at AAMI Park, the Sea Eagles at Bluetonge and maybe even the Dogs at ANZ if the Dogs bring there 'A' game.

If this is the case the Vermin and The Mighty Roosters could be locked on 40 points each going into the last round which makes for a very exciting finish.

I for one would LOVE to give it to them at ANZ and snatch the Minor Premiership from there grasp along with the prize money to go with it.

Can anyone else see anyone but the Raiders giving us a go? I initially thought the Sharks might but given Gallen will be recovering from an injury and Lewis and Fifita returning from a brutal Origin campaign, I doubt they have the depth to make for serious threat.

    Thoughts?

Only 3 teams in the last 10years that have been the mionor premiers have gone on to win the grand final, Id be happy to finish in the top 2 and get a home semi...

In before token "One week at a time" comments.

On a serious note, the Bunnies and Storm have much harder runs home on paper so anything outside top 2 from here would be a failure IMO, the month after the bye for the Storm is tough - away in Canberra, New Zealand and Newcastle with Rabbits at home squeezed in the middle.

No excuses boys, let's lock this top 2 position up over the next month.

Raiders rarely trouble us in syd, knights is a tough away match, bogey team penrith at penrith and sharks away could be tricky to.

We have 3 danger games imo..

          Knights (away)
          Sharks (away)
          Rabbits (away)

          Im confident with the rest

Sharks (Home) - Tough one... lots of in form forwards + Carney is starting to fire.

Kinights (Away) - I hate playing Newcastle, the drive always kills us. Bet Knights win with an upset.

Panthers (Away) - The Riff are another club on the move. Tight but I think we'll win by 10+.

Raiders (Home) - Raiders have a horrible away record. We will pay them back for robbing us early on (rubbish game with poor decisions and poor time keeping.)

Tigers (Home) - Bunjiiii will be gone by then. Can't see the tigers threatening us.

Sharks (Away) - Again tough and I think we'll both be fighting for a top 4 place. Arm wrestle but we'll win, cementing our premiership hopes.

Titans(Home) - No idea, this game will be a wild card. We should win by a lot and realistically have to if we think we're going to be a force during the finals.

Vermin (Away) - Basically a home game (tell them to upgrade Redfern and stop using our stadium!!) This will basically be an exhibition before the finals... Souffs will celebrate a minor premiership at the end regardless of the result.

At this stage of the season we are the second best performed team and deserve second spot but I have more conservative expectations with a focus on a top 4 finish. 4 wins should definitely guarantee that with 5 to make it certain.

Sharks will be tough as Cagney finding quality form albeit against second rate opposition. Sharks actually have better winning record without Galen. He demands a lot of the ball and that limits input of other quality forwards and stifles their attack.

Our away record has been awesome this season with just one loss and that was an unlucky loss against the raiders who are unbeaten for a sustained period and played the perfect second half

If we finish in the top 4 we are well positioned to make the big dance based on our structure , away record, defence and big match experience.

Souths are easily the top performing side so far and I can not see them relinquishing the MP. Their defence is improving and they remain composed when they fall behind . Since that storm loss they have learnt how to grind out wins and play for 80. The warriors are one of the form teams of comp in last 6 rounds and souths fell behind before drawing away after a real arm wrestle for most of the Second half

It's not as easy as it might seem. Most of those sides are in and around the 8 and will be gunning pretty hard for a finals spot. We can win but we have to be on our game.

Imagine if the round 26 game against Souffs was for the Minor Premiership...

It's still a very long time until then though and we have a few tough matches. It all begins with the Sharks on Saturday night.

This is pretty important. If the ladder stays the same as it is now heading into the finals, it could mean we would be playing the Storm. I would much rather play them at home than in Melbourne if we happened to finish third.

I said it before, its not the easiest run home, but it certainly is the hardest, and no where near as hard as what melboring and souffs have. a minimum 6 from 8 to finish the season is what should be expected to finish top 2 and get that home semi.

Vermin now have a slightly better differential at the moment, so that will be the decider for the Minor Premiership if that 1st posters scenario comes into play.

Souffs have the tougher run home 1- it can help them in prep for the semis 2-Injuries could ruin them .Its not unrealistic for the chooks to end up as Minor Premiers either .All the teams we are facing we should be capable of putting them away although as mentioned earlier we do drop our guard a little on occasions but they are far and few in between .
It would kill souffs not to get the minor premiership so go for it boys
