  • Am I going crazy.....

Or is this really happening?. If there was one thing I wanted the Chooks to fix from the previous years, that was their defence.
Well I think that box has been well and truly ticked off .

I don't know whether I'm dreaming or what, I mean can this be the same team or is this some kind of strange bizzaro world where everything is the opposite of what it should be?. Like we should be on the bottom of the ladder, not at the top?.

Anyways, it's a really nice dream. I just don't want to wake up till AFTER September, when they win the Grand Final!.

I had the same dream last October & my bookie graciously offered $23, I eagerly accepted

Yeah, I agree, not great YET!.
However, considering we've just been elevated to outright favourites, with wabbits behind us, we've still way over-achieved what was expected of us at the beginning of the year.
I know some "so called experts", had us in their top 8.
But there were also many that didn't .

So taking that all into account, I don't think there's that much pressure on us to actually get to a grand final, nor win it
(although that would be great!), considering what we've achieved so far.
Next year will be a different storey, if we don't win it this year and SBW has one more year with us, before he goes back to the chiefs and All Blacks in 2015. Then there really will be pressure to duplicate the same results, if not better.

The same can not be said of Lol souths, there is IMMENSE pressure on them to win this year, especially after last year and this years results.
Plus throw in 40+ years of their fans long suffering pain (that gives me a warm feeling inside), they don't want to win.
They HAVE to win, they NEED to win, anything else is unacceptable.
Thats a hell of a lot of pressure.
Besides, Chooks have been to 5 Grand Finals since 2000, can't say the same for Lol souths!.
So, next years a different storey, if the Chooks make it this year and win, AWESOME.
If not, then next years where the pressure will be.

One of our suppliers is a $ouff$ tragic.
At the start of the year I mentioned that we would make the 8 this year. He was amazed that I thought we could improve so much in such a short time. He even said "I'll be back in July to see how that's going for you". He came back in last Tuesday & I mentioned his previous comment. "mumble mumble mumble" was all I got.
Got even more mumbly when I quizzed him on the Merge effort.

Even if we don't get over the line this year it is soooo good to know we will compete EVERY game. Compare this to the last few years.
The culture that has come back to the playing group & all involved is something to be proud of.
            Well done.

Neither had St. George since 1999 until they won in 2010 (apologies for bringing that up).

However, I think we're a much better team this year than what we were then, also if the Chooks do make the GF Archer can't be there, Cecchin can but unlikely.

But it's not good to get too far ahead of ourselves, the next challenge will be the Knights which won't be easy but I hope Pearce knocks Gower in to next week and we win by how much I don't care.

Funnily enough, those 2 teams aren't bothering me at the moment. There is always a wild card team who will come left of centre and throw a spanner in the works and cause an upset. As long as it's not our team as collateral damage, it makes it exciting to watch. I'm very wary of the Knights this weekend but then I said as much about Cronulla and look how that turned out..
