I have asked plenty of times to do the photos for the website, i was given excuse after excuse and NEVER saw any photos from any games (aside from fitzys last) posted on the web site.

We are discussing one for the Chookpen site.

thats not good enough from the marketing side. i think everyone agrees that there needs to be an overhaul of the way things are done and promoted. whether thats means hiring new staff and devouting more resources or a complete restructing of the department to get us atleast on pars with other clubs.

I don't care much for marketing but I do think that considering the actual 2009 season isn't over and there has been some changes, what with Jarrod moving to another club, I think we're getting a little ahead of ourselves here.

Surely Jarod would have given them some notice so it's not as if the Club didn't have the opportunity to find someone new and even got them on board before Jarod left so there could be a 'handover' of sorts.

This is where the saying 'you have to spend money to make money' rings true.

Or am I just being too practical here

Though you would have to consider that the replacement would also likely have to provide notice to their current employer as well... However it would not surprise me if the club are taking their time as it is offseason and they can save a couple months salary by delaying hiring a replacement. We do seem not to mind penny pinching in admin but throwing bucket loads at useless footballers...

Again there we are talking about funding and personel.

We have souffs that are pouring resources into a separate stand alone site, yest the roosters along with 15 other clubs have decided to fall into the dictated web sites of the NRL and it seems only souffs have decided to keep a stand alone site, all credit to them.
I think the NRL has a BIG commercial deal with Bigpond, which has stuffed up a lot of the content + made it really bland and generic.

I guess in theory it saves the clubs time and gives a bit of consistency to NRL sites. Also it provides a central location for everything. This would work GREAT if Telstra used a better CMS (which was less cluttered and allowed for more customisation)... but they didn't!

So we're stuck with this rubbish Bigpond CMS that looks dodgy, looks weird on lots of popular web browsers and won't play video on most of the setups I've seen.

It's also really impersonal... the articles aren't written by a bloke at the Roosters, so on the front page of the Rooster's official site you'll have headlines such as "DRAGONS EAT ROOSTERS FOR LUNCH!!!" to which I'll say "hang on... I'm a Rooster's fan"... I'd prefer an article by Freddie or something (surely not too much for the coach to do a write-up on each game) in which he's nice to his team and promises things will get better (maybe gives an insight into what he thinks they're gonna have to do in order to win next week.) I don't want to read an article that's mocking my team, nor should the NRL/Bigpond push it onto the front page of our site.
