Hahaha, I didn't watch the news but was this a Danny the dud Weidler exclusive???
Haven't we all learned to wait for an official statement from the club?
Here we are writing his eulogy and the big fella is staying put, for now.

Following a request from his management, Marty Kennedy has been granted approval to negotiate with other clubs for season 2014 and beyond

This is a good move for all parties concerned.

JWH and Moa have the "experienced front rower" spots locked down for the next 5 years. Im a HUGE fan of Moa and anyone would be mistaken if they think he's merely a stop gap.

And this move also shows serious confidence in the likes of Napa, Evans and now Liu. They're essentially been earmarked as the future.

On top of this perfect combination of experience and youth we also have Casty coming next year who will be an absolute revelation I reckon. Hopefully O'Donnell re-signs, too.

So a prop rotation for 2014 of JWH, Moa, LOD, Casty, Napa, Evans and Liu is truly mouthwatering. Geez it looks so much better without MK in there stunting anyones growth.

So Marty Kennedy will not count towards our salary cap for next season?

Not if he asks for a release.

Sad to see him go but was probably inevitable.

BRISBANE have scored a $1 million coup, with Martin Kennedy, the Queensland Origin hopeful spotted by the late Arthur Beetson, agreeing to join the Broncos until the end of 2016.

On a day of recruitment drama for the Broncos, The Courier-Mail can reveal Kennedy, a 118kg prop, is bound for Red Hill after being granted permission to negotiate by the Roosters.

While veteran halves Scott Prince and Peter Wallace appear headed for the exits at season's end, Kennedy, 24, is just days away from formally becoming a Bronco in 2014.

Kennedy's management and the Broncos have been in negotiations for the past fortnight.

Brisbane operations chief Andrew Gee will meet again with Kennedy's manager Sam Ayoub on Monday to finalise a three-year deal as a precursor to the Roosters signing off on a release from the last year of Kennedy's contract.

Gee declined to comment, but a source close to negotiations said last night: "The Roosters are happy for Marty to leave and he's keen to go to the Broncos."

Brisbane players are aware of the Kennedy development.

Inner-sanctum whispers about Kennedy's impending arrival prompted Broncos players to seek an appraisal from recent Roosters import Lama Tasi, who played alongside Kennedy at Bondi Junction.

The signing of Kennedy effectively scuppers any hope of David Shillington joining Brisbane next season after reports the Broncos had expressed interest in the Canberra enforcer.

Broncos coach Anthony Griffin is keen to add size and aggression to a Brisbane pack so light on for elite front-rowers that back-rower Sam Thaiday has been forced to play up front this season.

Griffin added mongrel last month with the acquisition of the hard-hitting Tasi from the Roosters.

Now he has greater bulk in Kennedy, who was named Queensland's 18th man for Origin II this year, only to suffer a knee injury against the Bulldogs on the eve of Game Two.

The Roosters have a huge wrap on 200cm rookie prop Kane Evans, who Broncos legend Petero Civoniceva believes will play Origin and Test football.

Born in Lismore, Kennedy was signed to the Roosters by Beetson and found himself at the centre of an Origin tug-of-war in 2011 after a string of impressive performances.

The Ipswich junior ultimately opted for Queensland and went agonisingly close to clinching his debut for Origin this year before losing out to Souths bolter Chris McQueen.

Kennedy's purchase has ramifications for a number of current Broncos forwards.

The Courier-Mail understands rising prop Dunamis Lui is eyeing a move to Manly, while veteran bookend Scott Anderson is unlikely to be at Red Hill next season.

With Tasi and Kennedy bolstering the forwards, the Broncos are now eyeing backline recruits to reinvigorate the club as a premiership force.
