My thoughts re: Maloney's game

Hey guys, saw a few posts in the game day thread about Jimmy giving away 4 penalties and how bad he has looked. I just wanted to make a point of saying that by all accounts its classic signs of an Origin hangover. Hes never played at that intensity for that amount of time. Add on top of that the media scrutiny he didn't attract across the ditch and it shows he might just be spent. Positively, he showed class when setting up Boyd, but by all accounts he was ordinary.

Having sustained a fractured eye socket and heart crushing Origin series loss I really think he should be a candidate for a week off against Penrith/Gold Coast to freshen himself up. He will be back and brilliant for the Finals but I think he deserves a break.

Only my opinion though, would like to hear your thoughts.

Yesterday was just one of those days where nothing went right for him. It's not like he didn't try.

It was emphasised on that grubber he put through to himself, which was a golden play, only to pick the wrong option at the end of it.

He is still putting his body on the line, his purple patch is coming soon.

I reckon if Chooks beat Panthers then Maloney should be rested. His kicking and running game against the Knights was well below his normal reliable game and time off will give him time to recover from the tough last 6 weeks and also get him mentally fired back up!

I think its a bit of fatigue, SOO etc, but I seem to seem Maloney getting the crap belted out of him a lot more lately.

Is he going to be a regular on The Footy Show panel? Has been on there a lot lately. Always seems to be a kiss of death for players - seems to
lead to poor onfield performances!! Having said that I thought Sundays game was a tough game. Need to regroup for Panthers could be harder then we think. Hoping he gets in the right mindset but still think he is awesome!! And that goes for ALL the team!! Go EASTS!!

When he tackles he could also try saying, "One mississipi, two mississipi" before letting go of them. He's like a leach at times in the tackle.
