Former Parramatta great Nathan Hindmarsh believes the Sydney Roosters will win this year's minor premiership, but has doubts about the halves pairing of Mitchell Pearce and James Maloney performing in the finals.
Hindmarsh told SportsFan's Clubhouse that the duo too often went missing in big games, and said it could cost the Roosters a shot at the title.
"When it comes to the pointy end of the season, they (Pearce and Maloney) don't really go that well in big games, I'm a bit concerned about their halves pairing," Hindmarsh said.
"From what I have seen in big games from those two, they just don't look as confident as when it is a normal game.
"I think they put a lot more pressure on themselves to perform, and you can see that in their games."
Hindmarsh also said Pearce and Maloney couldn't rely on the Roosters forward pack to provide much help and support in the finals, because the Chooks had become too reliant on their halves pairing throughout the season.
"The South Sydney forward pack helps out (John) Sutton and (Adam) Reynolds a lot," Hindmarsh said. "They take a lot of the burden particularly the Burgess boys… they them into the good ball zone so they can do their stuff, whereas the Roosters rely on their halves pairing a lot more."
